Ooops. You misunderstood my reference to anti-viral/anti-bacterial herbal

tinctures. I don't think St. 's Wort functions as an anti-bacterial or

anti-viral at all. I don't know how it might be helping you fight off the

flu (and I doubt it is, I don't think that's part of it's function).

For anti-bacterial and anti-viral, I take Goldenseal and Echinacea (usually

combined). I don't take it until the first sign of cold/flu. It's not

something that should be taken as a precaution, because it can become

ineffective for you if you take it for more than 6-7 days at a time.

When I get a respiratory infection, I take Elecampane. It helps me clear

out the bronchitis-like symptoms and mucous.

In addition to these, I also take some homeopathic remedies. The one I

think works the best is ocilli... damn... I can't remember how to spell it,

but if you go to your local health food store with the " ocilli " part and

tell them you're seeking a homeopathic remedy for cold/flu, they'll know

what you're talking about.

Also... I've found that homeopathy is amazingly effective in helping me

through digestive distress. I regularly use a mint called " Stress Mints "

(they sell them at Discovery shops and at Nordstrom and at some health food

stores). They have homeopathic ingredients that soothe the savage stomach

beast when I eat too much or eat stuff that disagrees with me (everyday).

They cost about $5 for a small container, but I usually only take one or

two a day, so it's worth it. They calm my stomach distress in about 2-5

minutes. Amazing.
