Guest guest
Bruce, first of all, you have every right to be as angry as you are!!!! and ill tell you, even though hubby has insurance (which allows only certain hosps) we have gone to a different one-not covered- just because we hoped for better treatment!!! so bill me.. and well pay what we can when we can.. so long as it gets eventually paid.. i know thats not fair to the docs and nurses.. but i was told they get paid and the hosp comes for the bill.. well come on!! if the damn institutions did their job, had some sort of checks and balances, we wouldnt be forced to go beyond out of network.. to totally pay your own way.. bruce, we cant make it paycheck to paycheck , im a hairdresser, and we dont make that much in a retiree area.. they are scrimping too.. so how ill pay the hosp? i dont know.. but we did get better treatment . still wasnt great but was better! yep complain to all who will hear you.. write your local congressman.. write the newspapers.. get someone who knows you to act as laison and call papers too. ie.. i know this fellow and this is what is going on.. write AMA and call.. write the BBB and call them as well.. write until you get a response!! yep take it up with administration in hosp too.. it is totally (pardon the vulgarities folks, please!) shitty that our own system wants you to put everything you are on the line for them , but wont help you in return.. i know the gov t system as well (dad in AF) sitting for hours and hours for broken ankle-then the tech shook it to see if was broken.. he was smacked with an umbrella!!! hard!!! what idiots.. i too have racked my brains on who to yell to.. who to write to.. go for it .. anyone think of anyone else to write to let me know as well!!!!!! its absolutely uncalled for and who regulates the docs? other than the AMA? the poor nurses who know better and still have to do what docs want.. i can see them getting discouraged and nasty over time.. no excuse for it either, but i can see where it would happen I dont wish this type of treatments on anyone.. Your story totally hit home with us bruce.. we have been there over 30 times.. took 38 docs so far until we got a decent one and now he retired.. what to do.... Guest guest
OH i got some good ones Bruce, from some friends( they too are in med field-and are discusted by your story-that should never happen they said)... how about these.. i died laughing although its not a funny business.. i can see look on thier faces...one said - " well theres teh adninistration.. but hm, that all depends, you can call tehstate and the joint commission accredits the hospitals--if you want to be a real SOB, you can always call the police! that creates an instant incident report that goes to the state!!!! WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT ONE!!!!! ARGH-- then they wrote.. the joint commission is a group of people who come and survey the hospital-its purely voluntary on the hospitals part... but most insurance carriers and medicaid/medicare wont pay out without an approval from the joint commission and considering thats where most of thier money comes from theyd crap their pants!!( if they got bad mark!!) LOL what great idea!!!! more ammo to add to my rambo belt of --back at you jerks!!
Guest guest
Bruce - Keep the attitude and go to the administration!! This is no way to be treated! With all the stuff that you have going on -knowing me I'd show up at the ER's door every morning until you get treated the way you want!! (That's if you have insurance of course) Ugh! I know how long ERs take to treat our cases, but luckily the ER close to me recognizes me (ain't that great!) and at least gives me pain meds. while I'm waiting for 8 hrs. You go for it! Guest guest
to Moreland: Have you had blood tests to make sure you do not have hemochromtosis. Having OA at your age would definitely call for the "iron overload tests" to be done. Ferritin and iron saturation tests may reveal if you have this disease. But, I would definitely have a D & A done. My sister has hemochromtois like me and she came down with RA. I have OA. She fought with the doctors to get a D & A done because they told her that she did not have this disease because her ferritin and saturation tests were normal. Wellllllllllllllll, she does have hemochromtosis and she caught it in the nick of time before the RA went to far. Right now, she is pain free on a new RA medicine and has stopped the RA from progressing. I suggest all young people with joint problems such as RA or OA get these tests. These tests will save your live. RA & OA are just the beginning of more trouble to come when you have this disease if it is not caught in time. You all are probably sick of listening to me but I can't express my point enough. The person that does listen and does go back to their doctor and demand a D & A will be the person life that this messages will save.
