Absolutely, Jacquie!

When I read that your friend was shy and soft-spoken...it was a dead give

away...

Gentle people always do well with our kids.

just a really neat observation

Yesterday, out of the blue, a friend I hadn't seen since just after high

school came knocking at my door! Turns out he and his wife are living just

an hour north of us, and he was driving through our village and thought what

the hell. (he's seen my mom a lot and she'd supplied him with our name and

our town -- easy to find us!)

He was always exruciatingly shy. VERY quiet. Not a candidate for a

spectrum suspicion, just very shy and soft-spoken. Still is. (and yes,

most of my friends have always been male)

As we sat at the kitchen table drinking coffee and chatting, was

ADORING him. Making Tim play catch with him, drawing pictures for him,

telling him he wanted to go to his house, all kinds of stuff. It was really

neat!

This morning, as I was telling my mom about it, I realized WHY. Tim doesn't

make eye contact! EVER! And Tim didn't ask him any questions, or get in

his face...HE spoke to when ERIC spoke to him! Didn't put ANY demands

on the kid whatsoever. And because of that, felt absolutely free to

interact with him!

Neat.

I have an uncle like that, and adores him. I never stopped to think

about why until now.

And most of my close friends have been male too, wonder why that is?
