Hi Tina!

Welcome to the group. I'm in Virginia. I'm 31 and was dx'd with

JRA with adult persistence when I was 22 and in my last semester in college. It

was 1999 and, fortunately for me, the new biologic drugs had just been approved

in 1998. I started Remicade, an IV every 6 weeks, in March 2000 and I have been

in a " medically induced " remission ever since. Besides Remicade, I take

Ibuprofen, Methotrexate, Flexerill and Folic Acid. I know it is hard but the

newer drugs can help slow down further joint damage. You really should see a

rheumy. Besides, it isn't healthy to take your son's meds even if they help. A

recent article of research introduced at the American College of Rheumatology

meeting last week showed that the biologics do not increase the occurence of

cancer (Here is a link to an article on About Arthritis:

http://arthritis.about.com/b/2008/10/29/tnf-alpha-blockers-not-associated-with-i\

ncreased-cancer-risk-in-rheumatoid-arthritis-patients.htm).

Take care,
