Guest guest
, Thanks for the link! Yeah, I know it's not very bright of me to take the decadron, especially since it is much stronger than the prednisone. Unfortunately I can't sleep great while takng it or prednisone either. Did your rheum. sugest taking the folic acid with the mtx? Just curious b/c when my son was on it for leukemia, he couldn't take any supplements with folic acid b/c it interfered with the absorption and from the mtx. working. But then again, same drug (mtx.) but prescribed for different purposes. I guess I'll make that appointment, especially before the end of the year since I've already met my deductible! Thanks, Tina S. > > Hi Tina! > Welcome to the group. I'm in Virginia. I'm 31 and was dx'd with JRA with adult persistence when I was 22 and in my last semester in college. It was 1999 and, fortunately for me, the new biologic drugs had just been approved in 1998. I started Remicade, an IV every 6 weeks, in March 2000 and I have been in a " medically induced " remission ever since. Besides Remicade, I take Ibuprofen, Methotrexate, Flexerill and Folic Acid. I know it is hard but the newer drugs can help slow down further joint damage. You really should see a rheumy. Besides, it isn't healthy to take your son's meds even if they help. A recent article of research introduced at the American College of Rheumatology meeting last week showed that the biologics do not increase the occurence of cancer (Here is a link to an article on About Arthritis: > http://arthritis.about.com/b/2008/10/29/tnf-alpha-blockers-not- associated-with-increased-cancer-risk-in-rheumatoid-arthritis- patients.htm). > > Take care, > > > > > > > > >
