Guest guest
WOW there is a web site that can help you pick the colour to paint your house. Call me stupid but I could use that to. I have such a big house that I can't pick a colour to paint the main living area. Lori OT -- I am a seething mass of frustration > > Does anybody know of a website that will just TELL me what the stupid hell are the right colours to paint the entire interior of my stupid house??????????? Choices, choices, too many gawddamned choices. A quiz on colour, maybe? And then step-by-step instructions on how to implement the results? > > I am not doing so well. > > starts school in three days and then my mission for the coming 8 months is to get the house up to resale quality. That is going to be one hell of a hrad job -- and on the other hand, I feel guilty for doing that instead of going to work, so I MUST do a good job of it or my time here at home will not be justified and I need very badly to justify it because I would rather be burned at the stake than go back into the workforce. > > It's not just that I don't want to re-=enter the workforce. I WOULD RATHER THROW MYSELF OFF A BRIDGE than go back into the workforce. > > One thing I've discovered during the 6 years I've been a full-time mom -- I HATE jobs. I hate them. And now that I've spent all this time in my own domain, running my life on MY terms and choosing when and where I come into contact with other people, the idea of having to work closely with other people, to work with the public, and to ANSWER TO someone else throws me into a blind panic. > > I can't stay at home forever. I know that. The day will come that I'll HAVE TO go back out there. But in the mean time, if I do a good job with walls and ceilings while is in first grade, maybe Marc will let me stay home and do floors during second grade. And if the floors look good, maybe he'll let me finish the basement during third grade... > > BUT I CAN'T DO ANY OF IT UNTIL I PICK THE STUPID COLORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > Jacquie > -who is incredibly shaken about her child starting school full-time, but for less-than-typical reasons. > > >
Guest guest
ok, here's a page on what type of paint to choose and why http://www.paintingyourhouse.info/interior_paint.htm it's not about colors, it's about the paint itself " Something important to remember...we'll always be who we are. Guest guest
ok, here's entire site on HOW TO paint and decorate your house http://www.essortment.com/in/Home.Decorating.Interior/ it's quite good, but still not completely specific enough. still looking for that " Something important to remember...we'll always be who we are. Guest guest
> I think the colours are going to have to revolve around shades of beige and gold. I HATE BEIGE. < ok, if you aren't opposed to gold, i think that sounds like the best choice. what you could do is make gold the main color, but accent it with lots of different colors. for instance, i would use all the couch colors as accents in the living room, in the kitchen i would use the table and cabinet colors as accents, etc. that way, you wouldn't have to worry about the open ended bit because the walls themselves would all be the same color. the gold would brighten things up due to lack of windows. and even tho the main color would all be the same, the accents would bring individuality to each room. and best of all, you'd never have to use beige! No such THING!!!!!!!!! WAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LIKE the colours in the living room I have now, but they SUCK! They look AWFUL! I have the walls and accents in earthtones, terra cotta and khaki, and I LOVE those colours and they look HORRIBLE!!!!!!! <deep breath> Here are my challenges: 1. I live in an open-concept townhome with awkward lines. There is an L-shaped living/dining room with a patio door smack in the middle of the long wall -- and in between the living and dining room. The couch stands in front of half of this stupid window. 2. My couch is huge and navy blue. (plus side: the cushions are brugundy, green, taupe, and gold -- but alas, the earth tones don't seem to be working on the stupid walls) 3. the walls are all so erratically shaped and have things jutting out all over them like pipe coverings, etc (corners and ledges where there just shouldn't be such things) that wallpapering is nearly impossible. 4. Marc has forbidden any wall treatments that require more than one person to appy. Ragging, stippling, etc, is OUT 5. our stairwell wall reaches ten feet above the tallest stepbefore the turn. 6. our ceilings are stuccoed. 7. we have few windows. 8. almost all our carpets are GREY. Not a nice dove grey, either. Dirty dishwater grey. What matches with THAT? 9. there are no doors between rooms on the main floor. Just sides of walls show as you walk from one room to another. What room do you match those sonsofbitches to, anyway??????? I think the colours are going to have to revolve around shades of beige and gold. I HATE BEIGE. Maybe I'll just paint this stupid albatross white. After all, isn't that the colour of an albatross??????? Jacquie
Guest guest
> Maybe I'll just paint this stupid albatross white. After all, isn't that > the colour of an albatross??????? That was going to be my suggestion...Paint the whole place white and be done with it! Clean, bright, simple, easy to touch up...no decisions! Do me a favor and use a low- or no-voc paint, huh? Lifemaster is supposed to be the best brand for it. Oh...and...I see absolutely no reason at all why you ever " have " to go back into the workforce. I am quite sure you can find plenty to do at home and volunteering. -Sara.

At paintcafe.com, all you have to do is click on 'my workshop' and it will lead you step by step to picking to right color and technique for the space you're decorating. Guest guest
-This might sound hokey to some of you but I consulted a Feng Shui book, and read up what color schemes and other things help make a home calm. I am lucky enough to love the most calming color there is (green)so it helped. So Sage green is my main , butter yellow and jewel tone purple are the accent colors throughout my home. Any visitors I have here always comment on how relaxing it is at my house, so it must have worked. It's definately a feat, when you have 2 spectrum kids and visitors leave feeling calm .... So I spent $140 to learn medical transcription at home in 2 weeks, and now I get paid $9 a claim. Depending on how many claims you can do a day is how much you make. I do about 10 making $90 a day. I could easily do more while the boys are at school , but i still want my housework to get done. If you need more info let me know....Good luck!!! Guest guest
> what's voc? VOC is volatile organic chemical. VOCs are why paint is supposed to be used only in a well-ventilated area, and why some people get headaches or worse (dizziness, confusion, nausea, even fainting) in a freshly painted room. VOCs are harmful to everybody, but the dose at which you get symptoms varies greatly. You might call me allergic to them -- they are the reason perfume, new carpet, etc etc make me so sick. > We are surviving. Just surviving. Another income would make a noticible > difference. If you get the house fixed up, could you sell it & move someplace less expensive to live? (That's you right?) The work at home is an idea too. What about selling your paintings? -Sara.
