Guest guest
Hi : I was reading your post, and saw you were having surgery soon. Don't be afraid, you will wake up and be on the road to a complete recovery. I felt the same way when I had my knee replacement surgery. Scared to death, but here I am, doing good. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family. Wishing you a full recovery, and pain free days and nights. God Bless you. That was in March 06. I was diagnosed in May 06 with RA. I have been on Enbrel since Dec 06. I wonder if the enbrel has been keeping the pain at bay in my lower back. When I started on the enbrel I noticed that the pain in my back went away along with most of the pain and symptoms I had from the RA. Now that I'm off my meds and having surgery on friday it has all come back. Could the enbrel be helping the OA along with the RA or has the RA started to develop in my Spine? I don't see my rheumy again til after my surgery to discuss the switch from Enbrel to Remicade because the enbrel is starting to become ineffective for me. I have been having break through flares while on the enbrel. 1 in February 08, 1 in May 08, 1 in June 08 and again in Aug 08. Each time I have been put on Medrol dose paks in order to get rid of the flare. When I was diagnosed with RA I was 210lbs and was able to lose the weight to 150lbs but now I'm up to 180lbs going into my surgery. > > Yes, I'm scared about the surgery afraid that I won't wake up. I already don't get to see my kids that much now because of the job I have. I work Tuesdays 8am to 5pm, Thursdays and Fridays 1pm to 10pm, and Saturdays 9am to 10pm. The 13 hour saturdays are killing my RA and making me ineffective at home to take care of the house. My boyfriend does not have any sight at all and does the best he can when he can. He has carpel tunnel in his right hand from working on Lawn mowers and garden tractors and such and playing the guitar and other instruments. This is going to be extremely interesting how things will go with the surgery. I will not be able to talk for atleast 4 days. We have come up with a system that will work. His computer talks so if I need something I can use it to get him to get me what I need if I can't get it. > > I hope everyone else had a painfree day. > > > > _______________________________________ > No viruses found in this outgoing message > Scanned by iolo AntiVirus 1.5.3.5 > http://www.iolo.com > > >
Guest guest
Hi Jen - I know you've told us before, but I've forgotten what your surgery is for and when it is. Try not to stress out too much (I know, easier said than done), it sounds like you've got everything in place for afterward. I don't know what to tell you about the back pain and Enbrel other than I also suffer from horrific lower back pain that nothing has helped to date. I hope that once SSD is approved, I'll be able to get onto a biologic that will keep this RA under control. Hopefully when you switch to the Remicade after surgery, you'll get the same good results. Hang in there. My prayers are with you......Doreen I have been experiencing major pain in my lower back. About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with OA in my L4, L5 and L6 disk. That was in March 06. Guest guest
, I have also been having lower back pain, for over two years. A recent ex-ray showed that my L4 vertebra is out of alignment with the L5. I am also on Enbrel. I can't tell that it helps the back pain, but maybe it would hurt worse without the Enbrel. Mine doesn't hurt all of the time, but seems to really give me a fit when I am traveling. This is not a time when I want to be in pain; I'd rather be in pain at home if I must be in pain. I don't get to choose, though. Sue On Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 09:47 PM, Massey wrote: > I have been experiencing major pain in my lower back. Guest guest
I know what you mean. Mine hurts when I stand for long period of times. It also bothers me during the changing of the seasons from fall to winter and winter to spring. its even worse when it rains or snows. But the enbrel seems to help take some of the edge off of it. When I don't take it I can tell a differences in how much more pain I am in my back. Re: [ ] Back Pain and other rant (long) sorry , I have also been having lower back pain, for over two years. Guest guest
Best of luck to you on the SSD and SSI. It is my understanding that SSI could be approved quicker based on your household income. SSD can be a slow process with so many factors to take into consideration - none of which make sense sometimes. I pray you won't have to wait too long............Doreen > > I also applied for SSD and SSI about a month ago but have not heard > anything from them. > > jennifer >
Guest guest
Sue, I have OA and a herniated disk in my lower back also. I do a lot of driving in my job. I purchased one of those seat pads that vibrates and is heated. It really helps. My mind is more intune with the vibration and heat than the pain. It can be used in the car or with an electrical outlet for home. I also purchased one for my daughter who has fibro. She uses it on bad days at home. She says it helps her. Don't know it this helpful, just wanted to pass this along. Shirley > Re: [ ] Back Pain and other rant (long) sorry > > > , > > I have also been having lower back pain, for over two years. Guest guest
Hi Sue: I have this back vibrating heating pad, and it is wonderful. It is long, so the pad goes under your thighs, up your back, to the bottom of your neck. I purchased it for $39.00 several years ago. You can adjust the heat temps., plus direct the vibration where you need it. I highly recommend it to all. Hope you will feel better soon. Wishing you pain free days.
