Guest guest
I've had opportunity lately to see a variety of doctors, including having to find a new Rheumy. I saw my heart doc Wednesday and he asked me about the scarring and sores on my shins, why I still have that condition, why my GP hadn't done something for it. I answered truthfully that he didn't see it as his job, it was for some other doctor. He also asked if I'd seen a dermatologist. Yes, I saw a couple, and all they did was to further would me by burning (freezing) a couple of places off, taking more than a month to start healing instead of the week it was promised to be. The sores on top of my head weren't important even though I pointed them out to the Dermatologist. While trying to find a new Rheumy because my old one didn't want to deal with my insurance, I asked my GP for scripts that I'd run out of before I could get to see any Rheumy. He promised to write a script for one month's supply of Lodine, but when I went to the pharmacy, it was for only 10 days. I went to the dentist today because a piece of jaw tooth broke off last night and left a very sharp edge where my tongue was rubbing on it. He was only to take x-rays and give me a price list for work needed and wasn't going to address the tooth. I finally made him grind the edge off so he'll probably charge my insurance a bunch for picking up a tool. I could go on and on, but there has to be a stopping place. This is it. -- Dennis in eastexas
Guest guest
Hi Dennis, My name is Sue Kellis from Iowa. Some thing in your email raises red flag for me. I have RA but I also have a rare genetic disorder. It involves bad scars and poor healing. Also joint hypermobilty and pain. I had to diagnosis myself and then get it verified from a genetist. Also they found my daughter had a unknown heart problems. It basically involves faulty collegan which makes up everything. It's called Ehlers Danlos syndrome. For more info check out www.ednf.org When have stitches we have to have them in twice as long because we are such poor healers. [ ] What do doctors do? Guest guest
Dennis, I am so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of things. Seems these doctors all would prefer to " pass the buck " instead of take care of things like they're paid to do. I've been there with my Rheumy. I pray things turn around for the better for you soon. Take care.....Doreen > > I've had opportunity lately to see a variety of doctors, including > having to find a new Rheumy. Guest guest
Thanks for the info, , but I already addressed this issue with my GP. I took a copy of info published by experts and also a pic of the shins of an infected person as well as my own pics of my legs. He just threw it in the trash, saying I don't have this. It's the same attitude I get from all doctors. My right leg is numb and tingling and other symptoms, so I was sent to a neurosurgeon for evaluation. He had me stay in the MRI machine for more than 1 1/2 hours and concluded that " I'm wearing my clothes too tight " ! I bought the next size pants and suspenders to make sure nothing restricted any of my body. It didn't change, and now I've done serious damage to my lower back. When I saw him for this, I was told not to try for pain pills and was to be dismissed because that's all I wanted. I'm already taking Morphine, I wanted to find out why I hurt so badly before I did more to my spine. He 'made me happy' by sending me for basic x-rays. I could go on, but I won't. Guest guest
Soryy to hear you are going through so much Dennis. That's a lot of crap to have to deal with at the same time. Stan, Seattle, Sun!
Guest guest
There's more to the story, maybe I should write a book. Last Thursday was my 65th birthday and my driver's license expired on that day. I haven't left the house since then so didn't think about it. I did this one to myself and getting off Prednisone is a big part of my 'Hermit habit'. When my daughter moved in with her newest guy she didn't take any of her dogs or cats, left them for me to care for. She knows all about my soft-hearted ways. The Chihuahua that I helped raise is dying of heartworms and other problems for an old dog, and the Lab/Pit is so sick he can't move without extreme difficulty and is only able to use 2 legs. And, of course I have to foot the bills for food and meds for them and another big Pit of hers. Just more to add to the pile. Guest guest
Trust me Dennis I have soooooo walked in your shoes. My GP thought I was nuts when I came up with the Ehlers-Danlos, I was diagnosed by 2 genetist. The I started to have different problems and the GP blamed it on the Ehlers-Danlos. I self referred myself to a rheumy who diagnosed me. I switched to a different dr. If I wasn't in healthcare myself I probably be in the fetal position takIng tylenol! Re: [ ] What do doctors do? Guest guest
Sorry, things are going so bad for you. I have a big heart for animals too, I have a zoo here. I have been trying to find a good home for some of them, but its really hard. With the economy, people are giving their pets away, they can't even feed theirselves. Happy belated b-day, but sorry your license expired. Did you get it taken care of yet? I don't get out very much, so I know how you feel. Life just isn't as easy, this disease is a pain in the arse. I hope you feel better soon, and things fall into place. You, and Betty deserve to have a nice summer, and feel better. Take care, Tawny > > There's more to the story, maybe I should write a book.
