So sorry about your toe, Vicki.

Great news about your remission! What a relief that must be.

Did you asked to be placed on your rheumatologist's cancellation list?

Haaaaaa Omg Vicki.  You made me laugh so hard.  I fell off the toilet in the

middle of the night and I stubbed my toe.  It wasn't funny at first but I can

laugh now.

I got a huge pretty purple bruise on my chin.  My toes is OK though.  I hope you

feel better soon.  Sorry you fell.

I want a walker.  What should I say to get one.  I have congestive heart failure

and RA.  I get out of breath walking and I hurt a lot.  So how do I ask my

doctor for a walker.

I asked my rheumy for one but she said to ask my heart doctor for one, I don't

know why she said that.  I thought since I was in so much pain my rheumy was the

one to ask.

If I get one I am going to ask how to use them I don't want to fall over and

brake my toe. lol.  Sorry hon.

Clora,

Do you have insaurance? All I had to do was ask my general practitioner for a

walker as the cane was not keeping me balanced enough, I was having issues with

falling and sever pain in legs and hips. She faxed the reqest off to a supplier

and with ina few days I had my very own walker, They really are a wonderful tool

, no I never asked to be put on ther cancellation list. I just figired I

would have to wait until May, as that wa the only time she has available that

worked for both us. I am still having a hard time understanf the RA and

Fibro,The changes in my body and all.My husband wants me to go on disabilities

but from what I have heard they done pay much and is it also very hard to get

accepted. Now walkers, wheelchairs, canes those things are all easy to get.

Thanks you for the kind words. I really appreciate knowing that my words are

being read. And Yessssssss the remission was the best Christmas present I could

get. Truly results I was not expecting as As the Humira and MTX both make it

harder to fight things off but the higher doses must have helped beat the odds.

And of the loving prayers as well as my own faith helped some too.

Hi Clora,

I hope your chin bruise improves quickly. Sometimes the worse things

give us a laugh at the weirdest times!

I just thought I'd write to address your walker request. I've noticed

with my own rheumy that she tends to put things off to other doctors.

If I ask for pain meds she always refers me back to my primary care

physician. When I asked for physical therapy she tried to do the same

thing. I finally just got very firm and insistent in my request and

she gave me the referral. Maybe your rheumy is similar to mine and you

just have to get pushy?

Best of luck getting that walker!

You mean my primary Doctor..  I had a hard time getting a wheel chair.  I bet he

will be real happy for me to get out of the wheel chair and into a walker.

Thanks a lot.  I am glad you reassured me

Since I had to buy my scooter because Medicare didn't want to pay for it, I

took Betty and we were evaluated for chairs. I figured I would qualify but

the answer was a maybe and that because of my heart, not the RA. Betty can't

get one, but will be considered for a home health nurse and PT. This was

last Wednesday, and Friday I had a scare. I was looking through papers in my

lap when I started feeling weird and having some darkness creeping in. Then

I straightened up and I felt light-headed and the darkness got greater.

Suddenly, all was ok. Later that evening it happened when I was standing,

but was only about 5 seconds instead of the 15-20 seconds the first time. I

don't know what's going to happen now, but I've been monitoring my BP every

few hours and it's kinda ok. I've had to make some changes in my meds,

hoping that will make things better. It's straange that the PT nurse spotted

something and I never knew something was wrong. I don't know if it was a

heart attack or just a fainting spell. And no, I didn't go to the ER. After

all, I'm a man...

Clora, don't get near the toilet when you're laughing. It's not safe for

you. LOL

At least you didn't lose your sense of humor in the process, Dennis. If

you're thinking possibly a heart attack, you should get to a doctor

ASAP for tests. We wouldn't like you to have a heart attack!

I won't say for sure, but I may have missed a couple of pills that caused

it. I've been in touch with my PA and it's looking pretty good so far. I'm

going to see my heart doc before long, just settling things down first.

Good grief, Dennis!! What exactly does " kinda ok " mean regarding your

BP? Was it low? Hubby's uncle had " fainting " spells and all he needed

was a pace maker to keep his heart beating regularly and all is well

with him. Were you looking down when it happened the second time? I

pray its nothing serious with you, but PLEASE don't ignore it. These

kinds of things are NOT normal and we so value having you

Dennis,

I have to chime in with Doreen. My mother had several of these spells

and the doctor never caught it. This went on for a couple of years. I

thought maybe they were mini strokes. She would fall and hurt herself.

It was very scary for me to leave her. Finally her heart almost

stopped, only 12 beats per min. Thank God, this was on a Sunday and I

was home.

When she got her pacemaker, she felt 86 years young. She was amazed

how much more clearly even her thinking and recalling things was. I

also urge you to have yourself checked out soon.

The only thing I can say is, " Yes, Mother " !

We have discussed a pacemaker but the first treatment is with pills. And

I've been wondering if my so-called 'depression' isn't caused by my heart.

At present there is no real threat to me but can change in a heartbeat (pun

intended).
