Guest guest
Hello everyone! Well, it was an eventful day (twice!) at Holy Cross Hospital, and all Bob did was lay in bed. I feel sorry for his nurses! Those of you who have had surgery know what I mean! He hasn't even had anything to eat! On a more serious note, he is doing better. The hematologist, critical care doctors, and of course, Dr. M. came in today. They all feel that it is something to do with his blood, but no-one has an answer yet. Several test results (blood) take a few days to come back. His numbers have improved (He received another 2 units of red blood cells and 4 units of FFP (fresh frozen plasma) today, and his hematocrit is up to 26.9 tonight. The did another crit test, and if it has dropped back to 26 even, it's more blood for Bob. (I think normal is about 36, and he can stop getting blood when it reaches about 30.) He is in much better spirits, and seems to feel a little better. He is even a little bored, and asked me bring him a book to read. This is a good sign! Of course, he hasn't cracked the cover yet. For dinner he had dishwater soup, overdone broccoli and pretty decent fruit. Yummy. Then, he wanted me to go to the vending machine and bring him a treat. Yes--he wanted corn chips.........oh my! I guess he can have a few carbs today. Thanks to all who dropped me " good wishes " . I would respond to each and every one of you, but I think my exhaustion has finally set in. Take care, and I'll send a little report tomorrow. It's cathartic. Ellen
