From what I have seen in the news the CDC has it well under control with only 8

cases in the South U.S and everyone has recovered. Of course, it's the media's

job to scare the hell out of everyone.

Seattle, Cloudy.

This is very scary, and nothing we can do about it. Tawny

Well I remember back in 06 they were scaring everyone about a pandemic with the

bird flu. Nothing ever came of it so yes the media is terrible about scaring

people.

It's much worse than that, Stan. The CDC has said they probably won't

be able to contain the spread.

There are confirmed cases in CA and TX and possible cases in NY and KS.

There are over 1000 cases in Mexico and, possibly, around 70 deaths

there already.

Hi Stan,

Hope you having a nice day. I hope its under control, what a worry. With

everything going on around us, we just don't need anything else at this time.

Take care, Tawny

yes, I think it is kind of scarey too because those of us with compromised

immune systems are so vunerable. We just need to stay informed about the

problem. Hope everyone is having relatively pain free days. The weather here

is Southern Oregon has been crazy. Less than two weeks ago we had snow and then

a few days later it was 92...............that's why we love Oregon.........if

you wait 10 minutes, the weather will change.

Latest reports are that the CDC is taking more seriously, it appears there may

have been an outbreak in New York. So let's hope nothing comes of this or that

we can control it. Reports also indicate that this particular strain is quite

treatable.

80 now, the CDC has sent a team to confirm the deaths are due to Swine flu. It's

interesting (not in a funny way)how fast this spreads. The CDC stated this is a

global emergency but not to panic, I'm not sure exactly what that is suppose to

mean!

I think that's a very serious concern for us, and I'm already on the virge of

advising people with immune issues to avoid public contact.  With each news

report it seems to be spreading to another state.

My son is a high school teacher. Even though he had a flu shot, he got

the flu this year. It developed into bronchitis and later on, double

pneumonia. He's had a very hard time recovering from all of that, and

still has a cough, even though it's been several weeks since his

pneumonia got well. I'm sure he didn't have swine flu, but any kind

can be very bad. He is young and healthy, but all this just got him

down.

Thank you for the link. I am wondering if we happen to suspect if we have this,

if we can take Tamiflu? Not that I think I have it or that anyone near me does.

I take Remicade so my immune system is compromised.

Sorry to hear he went through that. I had kind of the same experience years ago,

sometimes the right bug comes along and you discover it's perfectly suited to

affect you regardless of how healthy you are.

Washington declared to this morning that our outbreak out of swine flu is now a

public health emergency. So much for " well under control! " Be careful, this is

not good for those of us having a low immune system.

Hi Maggie - it is my understanding that Tamiflu is only being administered in

the more severe cases of the flu as the government is trying to ready itself for

a pandemic.

Doreen :)

Tawny, Baylor Hospital is about 2 miles from my office here in Dallas and

they've already admitted some swine flu patients. Chas graduates from college

this weekend so I will be around way more people than usual. I guess I'll take

the BIG thing of hand sanitizer instead of the cute little one....don't know

what else to do! I'm already totally OCD about avoiding sick people. Wishing you

pain free days-

Love you-

Hi Jane,

OMG, this swine flu is just spreading. I know there isn't a lot you can

do, when you have to work. I am OCD also, so that helps, for sure. I

carry the hand sanitizer too.

Congrats to Chas!!!! She is an amazing girl, I know your are SO proud

of her. You take care, and so glad to hear from you. I've missed you!

Be safe, Tawny
