, You are allowed. You just whine all you want. I am so sorry

your body has taken leave of its sinces. Hope things get under

control quickly. Have you been to a diabetes diet class ? I went with

and found it interesting.

Worry looks around.

Sorry looks back,

Faith looks up.

Well I'm kinda bummed today. I had to start insulin to try to get my

diabetes under control. I still have to take the metformin & glipizide

but we added a long-acting insulin.

I had worked so hard trying to keep the carb count right and there is

no logic to what my body is doing. I don't think it quite understands

what is supposed to happen so everything just sent the blood sugar

straight up. I ended up skipping lunch or just eating an apple trying

to get the count right. But that didn't really work either. So now

I'm shooting up so I can eat.

I did loose 3 1/2 pounds last month but I would really rather eat. My

body needs fuel. I still have to be careful and respectul of the

illness.

I admit to being whiney today.

No I have not yet BUT I did go through this about 5 years ago when

hubby was diagnosed as type 2. He takes 1/2 the meds I do and no

insulin. So I have some background with it and know pretty much what

to do. That's why none of this makes sense to me. I know what it is

supposed to be like and this isn't it. I understand my insurance

pays for the classes plus I have a super resource at work - my boss

has been type 1 for 16 years and was on the founding board of the

local ADA. He has been really sweet and helpful. Can you believe a

CPA at this time of the year stopped in his tracks today to show me

how to load a syringe? I know I should be counting my blessings.

Maybe tomorrow. I'm spending the remaining 35 minutes of this day

being whiney. Yep, it is working for me and I'm going with it.

Thanks Peggy for your kind words.

Tomorrow going into the pulmo for PFT's and x-rays. I am very

nervous. We were going to try to wean down to 10 mg Prednisone a day

by the time I went back but well that didn't happen. In fact I just

finished a burst this week and just got back to 20! There is

something going on in there, I am really spongy. Whatever was going

on before I got so sick to start with is happening again. Same very

cold chills, then sweats, then freezing cold and a juicy cough. My

body temp has been a pretty steady 97.2. Also taking doxycycline.

It does not help that a Norther came in tonight and we're supposed to

get about 3 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow and the wind is just

howling outside. Gusts up to 50-60 mhp. And today's high was 78.

Yep, that's right. 78

For those who don't know in West Texas everybody respects the

weather. Northers will kill you.

He should be happier because the diabetes is better under control and

I have lost about 10 pounds. I do feel better, well other than not

being able to breathe right. This may be the cytoxan & Imuran

visit. We'll see. I just want to kill it, whatever that means. The

pheumonitis is aggressive but I am fierce and ready to do battle with

it. I beat cancer in 1999, recovered from a T3 burst compression in

2005 (never shave your legs in the shower girlfriends) and

pneumonitis struck in 2006. The local path guys say it is DIP but

Mayo says NSIP.

My heart is strong and so is my will. No expiration date branded

anywhwere on my West Texas rear end! I am going to give in and ask

for a handicapped tag this time. One more concession to make but

maybe it will get me in out of the dust a little quicker this

spring. Tends to be a little dusty out here. Ya know, in the wind.

Well mostly because of the way it feels when you fall over and things

break. Showers tend to be slippery and that is not a good thing. I

had 1 leg up on the side of the shower and the other leg slipped out

from under me. I landed upside down on my back. That's what caused

the T3 burst compression injury - the T3 vertebrae collapsed and

popped out spinal fluid. Hearing again the sound that it made wakes

me up at night. The injury makes me just slightly leaned over but

not enough to notice.

That was on Dec 21, 2005. All my friends got little stools to sit on

in the shower that year for Christmas.

,

All anyone can say to that is OUCH!!! Wow I'm so sorry that happened to you. I have found that shaving my legs is ever so much easier since I got my shower chair.

It was really nice of you to get shower stools for all your friends, you may have prevented another injury!

It isn't the shaving, it's the falling over and breaking things.

T3 vertebrae, where the ribs attach to the backbone. The vertebrae

broke and popped open then compressed on itself.

Oh yeah, big ouch.

Well because I need two knee replacements, I could no longer stand in the shower, so my daughter suggested I use the little stool I bought to reach stuff. (Not too tall!!!) Anyway, it works great and i shave my legs with ease. The legs may not be great, but at least I don't have to worry about curling the hair ! Peggy,

So it is the Prednisone that has stopped the hair growing on my legs

but given me whiskeres, beard and sideburns. When my vision was so

poor after those strong steroid treatments in Sept. & Nov. I didn't

realize I had a beard and told Jeff to look at me and tell me stuff

like that. I bought a lighted magnifying mirror from QVC and a

lighted tweezer and tried pulling out the black whiskers. That was

impossible on the chin and then I realized I had side burns. So I

bought some Sally Hansen cream hair remover and it works fairly

well. I think my Prograf and CellCept also contribute to this as

well as the fact that the hair in my head has been falling out like

crazy. I used to have enough head hair for 3 people, but now I am

getting ready to shop for a wig.

Love and Aloha,

Judy

S,

O.K. my brain fog lifted. I should have known what T3 was....my husband had T4 and 5 removed. But, I never heard of such a fall. Good grief!!! I will be advising my daughters of this.

My grandaughter who is living at my house right now, loves my shower chair because she can shave her legs more easily. I will tell her how smart she is.

Good plan. I've had an interesting couple of years. I don't

currently have a shower chair but I sit in a tub of water & soak now

when I do shave. I go through spells - either no leg hair grows or

Sasquatch moves in!

in Lubbock,

I loved the pictures. Your husband looks like he would be a super nice guy, just as you described. You are beautiful, fluffy is good. That old prednisone weight will come and go; it is a bummer!

The shoes made me smile. They are a symbol of how fast this monstrous disease can change our lived....and yet a symbol of hope.

Thanks for sharing.
