Guest guest
Does this happen to anyone else. I am just curious because I feel very violated. My primary then sends a copy of everything he sends her, to me and I SO appreciate that, but it makes me feel violated and not trusted. Stuff like: " she says she is NOT depressed but " bummed out " Then down in a section called Social History, it speaks of my marital history, and alcohol use, etc, Then it say No Exercise, which is also a load of crap!! I tell him this everytime I go, but that is what is always says. Should I be mad about this. I have an appt today and all I want to do is get through it and go home because he halfway listens anyway and always tells me how great my RA is doing and all the stuff I have to tell is related to THIS or THAT, shipping back to my Primary who doesn't understand sometimes why I am there. It am annoyed. Advice please. Cassy PS, I have been seeing this rheumy for a year and a half after being fired from my previous one for pestering her with questions. Now I feel " stuck "

Guest guest
Hi Casey - I know this irks you, but I WANT my Rheumy to send his notes to my PC. That way everyone is on the same page with me and any and all treatments I am receiving. Its also good that your PC forwards a copy to you - that is something I wish my PC would do - I think I'll ask next time I go in. Its a shame your previous Rheumy felt " pestered " with questions. I've learned that I have to be prepared with notes when I go into my Rheumy so that when he abruptly and quickly says " is there anything else? " I can jump right in with what I need to say and ask. They are very busy doctors and that really is no excuse, but if we can learn their specific idiosyncrasies, then perhaps we can get our questions answered more effectively. Please feel free to shout out some of your questions here. Perhaps one of us will have asked the same thing or felt the same way and can help you, too. If we don't know, we always recommend you call your Rheumy. Hope this helps, hang in there........Doreen > > Does this happen to anyone else. I am just curious because I feel > very violated. Guest guest
Okay on one hand... at least your doctors are talking to each other. On the Other hand.... The bad news is it sounds like a bad game of telegraph. You know where you whisper " The ball is Red " and at the end of the line it comes out as " The sky is raining blue puppies. " What I would do, and have done. Is to write up a statement on how I am doing, what I have been able/or not able to do, and comments on any of the things you want clarified or questions you need to ask the doctors. I usually start off with a list of the medications I am currently on, and then add my comments/thoughts. ASK the doctor to include this into your file, and send a copy to your Primary Doc with his notes. I found a special added bonus to doing this. When I applied for SSDI, I included some of my notes I had written as sort of a journal. Copies of what I had written were also in my medical records, so the evaluator also got copies of the exact same thing from my doctor. This was a unintended blessing when it came time to apply for disability.
Guest guest
Cassy, In principle, it's good if one's physicians are communicating with each other. If you think your rheumatologist doesn't listen to you and he communicates incorrect infomation though, it's time for a new one. Guest guest
I, personally, do not see the problem with a full report of your RA visit to go to your GP. It is important for those two people in our lives to be on the same page. How you word things, in your example you mentioned bummed out vs. depressed, can be key to getting proper treatment. Misinformation is another story. However, I do not know your level of exercise. Unless you are working out most of the week, most doctors do not consider taking walks, and such, as exercise per se. Intention exercise is meant for strengthening and health benefit, not what we do on a day to day basis...which for some of us takes every bit of energy we have yet is not classified as exercise. Try not to get wrapped up in doctor reports unless there is gross misinformation. If that is the case then the receiving doctor needs to be aware. Guest guest
I have the same problem- except in my rheumy's reports she says things like I am using only half of the pain medication prescribed (untrue) and obliquely criticizes some of the primary doc's treatments- making it sound as though I am the one doing so. She's cost me two doctors so far (they get very upset, understandably), but she's the best rheumy in the county so I've stayed with her despite everything. I now make sure to give her a written copy of my symptom diary and ask for it to be included in my file. I find that her notes are much more accurate when I do that. ~Marie
Guest guest
I am sorry it has taken me so long to write back, I found out because my Primary Dr sends me a copy of every report that is sent to her, I appreciate it, I do, however I was also appalled with the WAY things were said, frustrated. I work in healthcare so I understand the terminology, this is beyond that, makes me feel like a patient turd! LOL, maybe just icKy. cassy > > From: cnberte <bigbear4x4@...> > Subject: [ ] Rhuemy passes on " everything " I say in report to prim dr > > Date: Friday, November 14, 2008, 1:13 PM > > > > > > > Does this happen to anyone else.
