Guest guest
Hi! I have been having this bothersome pain in both hips (near the groin), specially when sitting for some time and when in bed (sometimes walking hurts too). It really gets very uncomfortable when trying to sleep. Also moderate pain when straigtening my elbows, they get very sore. I have not done any excercise or heavy lifting. I am still undiagnosed but my rheumy suspects seronegative RA. I am thinking on calling her next week. Does this sound familiar to any of you? Do you know if RA affects elbows and hips? Thanks in advance. Your help is very much appreciated. Claribel
Guest guest
Hi Claribel: I have had that hip pain before with my RA. When not flaring, I have no pain. I take 10mg. a day of prednisone, and I have no pain from the RA at all. Maybe a call to your Rheumy would be good to do. He might give you an RX to help you get rid of that pain. Wishing you pain free days. Guest guest
Hi Claribel - Yes, this is very familiar to me. My hips have felt like they are going to pop out of their sockets at times. The elbows will hurt, too - especially when sleeping and I've been in one position for too long. I have Seronegative RA (FINALLY got copies of my Rheumy's notes) as well as neck and lower back pain, Fibromyalgia, bursitis, RLS and possible Psoriasis. I take Prednisone, Sulfasalazine, Methotrexate injections, Neurontin, Skelaxin, Percocet and Folic Acid. There are more, but these are the ones that are related to my Rheumy's diagnosis'. What kind of meds does your Rheumy have you on? Hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care.........Doreen > > Hi! > > I have been having this bothersome pain in both hips (near the > groin), especially when sitting for some time and when in bed > (sometimes walking hurts too). Guest guest
Hi Claribel I've had seronegative RA or ReA for 15 years now (it's some type of seronegative inflammatory arthritis in any case). Yes, my elbows are affected when in a flare - they won't straighten when they're swollen. I've also had it in my right hip, leading to a hip replacement 2 years ago. I feel for you, as hip pain I found to be THE worst (much worse than knees), second only to inflammation in the spine. To add an encouraging note, I have been in a drug-induced remission for 2 years now (my 3rd remission)and feel terrific. Thanks to mtx, salazopyrine and my anti-inflammatory in NZ (aged 43)
Guest guest
Claribel and group; Hello, I hate that groin pain. I know it does hurt. If I am not mistaken one can have rheumatoid where ever a joint is. THe hips has joints and the elboes are joints so sure it can be RA. Get it checked as soon as possible so a medicine regiment can be started. The sooner the better. gentle hugs Clora ************************************************************* > > Hi! > > I have been having this bothersome pain in both hips (near the groin), > specially when sitting for some time and when in bed (sometimes walking > hurts too). Guest guest
Hi Claribel, Â I just found out about a month ago that I have RA, and I am still experienceing those problems (along with a few others). I jokingly refer to this as my " New Normal " (not sure what will hurt when). My Rheumy started me on Plaquenil with ibuprophen as needed for the pain. The group is right, talk to your Dr. He/She should be able to prescribe something for the inflamation & pain. This group is a treasure as they have a wealth of knowledge that they gladly share with us " newbies " . Â Hope you're feeling better soon! Guest guest
Betsy and group;  I take plaquenil, sulfazaline, Lyrcia and humira injections but I still have pain. Most in my lower back. I use pain patches for the lower back pain and its great when I can keep the patches on.  I am going to discuss it with my rheumy next time. I don't know what else she can do. I also been told one don't get the full affects from the humira for at least six months so I am hoping It will help more than.  I been taking humira for little over a month now.  It was wonderful after a few days. I was in constant bedridden pain back than.  gentle hugs Clora  ****************************************************   From: Farchette <eafarchette@...> Subject: [ ] Re:Question about hip and elbow pain Date: Monday, November 24, 2008, 8:57 AM Hi Claribel,  I just found out about a month ago that I have RA, and I am still experienceing those problems (along with a few others). Guest guest
Talk to your rheumy. It may take a few times tinkering with medications before you find the right combination for you. I have been dealing w/ RA for the past 7 years and I still get bad flares. It's good to have a sense of humor through all this. Hope you feel better. > > Hi Claribel, > Â > I just found out about a month ago that I have RA, and I am still experienceing those problems (along with a few others). Guest guest
Yes, I was on them for a few months. They work, but if you have sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend them. You change them every 3 days (I think), and I remember I had to use extra tape to keep them from falling off after the 1st day. If you do go on them for a short amount of time, you need to gradually go off them or you can go through bad withdrawls. If you have any further questions, let me know. > > > > > > Hi Claribel, > > > ? > > > I just found out about a month ago that I have RA, and I am still > > experienceing those problems (along with a few others). Guest guest
, The withdrawls are pure hell. It's like going off of heroin. It lasts for days and beleive me...it's the worst feeling in the world. I could not do it cold turkey, I tried. It did help with my pain. I was on it for a year when I lived in Los Angeles and it helped me stay pretty active. When I moved to Colorado, the docs here took me off of it. I went to 3 rheumy's before I found one that was willing to treat my RA and fibromyalgia aggressively like my old doc in LA. Best of luck to you. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi Claribel, > > > > > > > ? > > > > > > > I just found out about a month ago that I have RA, and I am still > > > > > > experienceing those problems (along with a few others). Guest guest
Hi! Thank you all for your kind responses. My hips are still hurting, also my knees and elbows. Pain is mild, I think, cause I'm only on Tylenol. I had to discontinue NSAID's because of GI bleeding and ulcer about 6 weeks ago. Dr. prescribed Ultracet but I'm afraid to take it...
