Fatigue Common in Psoriatic Arthritis Patients

symptom of psoriatic arthritis, and among those most at risk are women

and patients experiencing pain, researchers report in the September

ls of the Rheumatic Diseases.

Dr. Dafna D. Gladman of the University of Toronto and colleagues came

to this conclusion after studying 499 patients at a psoriatic

arthritis clinic.

Based on surveys with validated tools, including the modified fatigue

severity scale, 49.5% of the patients had at least moderate fatigue,

and 28.7% had severe fatigue. These proportions are higher than those

reported in healthy controls (34% and 8%) but comparable to those in

patients with other rheumatic conditions, according to the authors.
