Guest guest
Hi group, My name is Lesia Kyriakou and I am just joining you. I live in London with my husband (Australian - Cypriot [i am actually Celtic decent Poly)) and 19 month old daughter. After the birth of Ceili I had a retained placenta, the doctor tried to remove it manually but obviously didn't get it all because 2 weeks later I was back in having a D & C. That was the last I thought of it for a long time, I breast fed my daughter until she was a year old so was not suspicious when my periods did not resume and then when I began to be concerned it took a lot to get the doctor to take me seriously. After a barrage of tests came back normal I finally heard Ashermans mentioned - I was told they would take me in to check with the camera and operate then if it was Ashermans. So when I came around two weeks ago to be told that yes it was Ashermans but that I was being referred to the Royal Free because I was to complicated for the surgeon I was very shocked and started looking into Ashermans which has brought me here. Sorry to prattle on but I think I am still a bit shocked. The questions have helped me and I now feel more confident when I get to see someone. Keep in touch. Bye for now. Guest guest
Hi Poly, Adam Magos is the name I have been given, so I guess it is the same guy, please, please, please give me the inside story before I get to him. Many thanks Lesia
Guest guest
Lesia, Just wanted to welcome you to our group. As I mentioned to you before, we have not found any Ashermans expert in UK yet. We are working on it. I contacted a Dr in Uk not so long ago and asked him what technique he used but I was not so sure I liked his technique. He said he used micro diathermy. When I asked an A list doctor about this, he told me that he prefered to minimize the use of CAUTERY and used mainly scissors to avoid further scarring. I therefore cannot recommend him at this point until I am absolutely sure that he is experienced in this surgery. You mentioned being referred to the Royal Free hospital. Which doctor are they going to refer you to? I ask that because that was where I went for 2 of my surgeries and Dr Magos was the doctor who treated me. Please let me know and we can exchange thoughts about this. Don't worry, you are in the right place for support and we will do all we can to help you find the specialist for this surgery. I am a stay at home mom, and wife to Ed, we have four children, Rick, , Alyss and AJ. They are behind me in whatever I choose to do, but I tend to forget about me and focus completely on the needs that they have. So in that process I eat at the wrong times and the wrong things, and tend to get into the emotional eating roller coaster. Hope to get to know everyone, and thanks for the opportunity to join the group. Sandy ------------------------------------
