Guest guest
WAY TO GO, !! 9 smoke free days is awesome! I'm glad you didn't find any cigarettes when tearing your son's truck apart. Can you see the visual of yourself doing that now? How silly you looked while desperately tearing that truck apart! Just think how horrible you would have felt afterwards - especially because it would mean you would have to start all over again. A fellow ex-smoker friend of mine had these thoughts on her page: " If I have 'just one' I'll be back to where I started. Where I started was wishing I was where I am today. " " 'Just One' = 'Square One' - EVERYTIME!!! " Keep up the good work - You're just about through with " Heck Week " . Guest guest
Thank you Mimi... I do fine for hours and then that nicodemon attacks. I swear it comes from nowhere. I am so greatful I am around no smokers. I can not imagine dealing with a " whiff " ... I am visiting in the Panhandle of florida and it seems the world smokes here. Therefore I rarely leave the house. I appreciate the support. hopefully tomorrow I will finally be able to log into the aversion sites that were so kindly recommended....Been sharing a computer and have had limited access.... thank everyone for the support.... Guest guest
Hi : I have been reading all your posts, and the wonderful progress you are making giving up smoking. I do know it is a tough battle for you and everyone. I am so happy you are doing so well. I know the weather in the Panhandle is great now. You must feel good. It has been so cold here in North Port every morning, that I am so stiff and hurting everywhere!!! I have had the heat on each day until it warms up at noon. I guess we are due for more cold weather next week. My prayers are with you for your continued success in beating the " Nicodemon " . It will be so worthwhile for you, and I know you will feel so much better. Keep up the good work. You are doing great! Wishing you pain free days, and remember, I care about you. Guest guest
Thank you so very much for your kind words of support. Osn't temperature amazing with our disease. I went with a friend to Tennessee before coming to panhandle to be with my son. I hurt so badly there. Every knuckle and joint in my body ached. There were tears rolling down my face at times. Leaving the cold made me feel much better. Those of you living in the cold climates sure have my empathy..... Guest guest
Thank you Clora. About 20 minutes a day are very difficult for me with intense cravings.... all in my head at this point...... the rest of the time I do not even think about nicotine. If I were near a smoker, I would smoke during those 20 minutes. I am still " hiding out " at my sons doing little tasks for him and feeling useful. It is a safe environment while this nicodemon is laid to rest permanently. 5 $$$$$ a day....I will owe me something nice.... Guest guest
Way to go, !!! You are kicking that nicodemon's butt! I am so proud of you! And I'm sure your son appreciates all of your help. As for the money you are saving everyday by not smoking - you betcha' you deserve something really nice. You've probably saved enough money now to treat yourself to a spa pedicure and/or manicure! Keep up the good work. Guest guest
That's an excellent idea, Bob. As newbies to being smoke-free, we forget to take deep breaths like we always did when we smoked. Only now taking a deep breath is bringing clean, fresh air into our lungs. And if there is any gunk in there, it will help to cough it out (think that little green guy on the Mucinex commercial*lol*). I unfortunately didn't do this and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia back in 2005. You can bet I deep breath LOTS now! I've been smoke-free for 2½ years now and have saved almost $3,200! I'm about due for a huge down-payment on the car of my dreams (if only I could get hubby to go along with it). Oh!! If I didn't say this before, forgive me. WELCOME TO THE GROUP, BOB!!............Doreen > > I used deep breathing for 5 minutes, when the urge came.. Guest guest
, you should put aside that $5 a day and use it to pamper yourself. After all, it would go up in smoke if you kept smoking. You deserve to get something really nice with it. Hang in there; you're stronger than that stupid old nicodemon! Guest guest
Yes, , cruises are absolutely wonderful! The food is divine, and since you've already paid for it, you don't have to worry about not being able to afford it. A cruise would be an excellent thing to spend your cigarette money on! Guest guest
Clora - I am so happy to hear you are going to give it another go and quit smoking. Just try to think about what triggered your " slips " in the past and be determined not to let the nicodemon rule your life. YOU CAN DO THIS!! And I'll be right here cheering you on all the way!! As far as the CPAP and mouth guards go, I had a friend tell me once that I wouldn't have to worry about anyone breaking into my house. They'd take one look at me all geared up and run for the hills! **LOL** I pray you get relief with the mouth guard. Doreen > > Cathrine and group; > > I hope it's bearable for you now.
