I am so excited and anxious to have my surgery. You make me feel that it is all

worth it and that God sent me to this place to change my life too. Actually, I

have a daughter who found the web site and told me about it. She also wants to

have the surgery one day but is pregnant with #2 child right now so will have to

wait. I am in the insurance company hands right now and awaiting my denial.

Dr. R told me that my

insurance is not very good so I am looking at other companies. I have written

my letter, have a psyche appointment next Monday and have an appointment for a

physical within the next couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing your info. I was

in Dr. R's office on 7/16 and met Ellen Byrd who was going to try to come visit

you at the hotel, I think. Dr. R was tied up in surgery and we had a couple of

hours to visit and it was

really encouraging. This onelist is the best! Keep us all informed as to your

progress. Thanks.

Dear ,

I too am looking forward to having the MGB. I just want to encourage

you. It was truly a blessing to discover Dr. Rutledge. He is a wonderful

person. I wish you the best! I know that God is able to turn a denial into

a approval. LOL in Raeford, North Carolina

Katy

I'm not sure if you meant insurance group or surgical group.

I am with Lifeguard HMO of California. My surgeon is Gracia MD FACS

etc etc. and he is based at San Ramon Regional Medical Center, San Ramon Ca.

His specialty is Laparoscopic Surgery and techniques - he lectures in that

field extensively. He started including Bariatric surgery in his practice

over 3 yrs ago. He does the open RNY if there is no other choice, but his

preference BY FAR is the LAP.

As was mine, but I was afraid I would be 50-70# over the limit. Thank God,

I am within his limits. He goes a little higher than Dr R, so my 367# was

still (barely) within the parameters, but combined with the exam - he thinks

we're okay. I'm going to try to lose some weight while waiting for my

approval - anything to make it easier on him and me!

Shari,

I had to lose weight to have surgery with Dr R and I am so glad I did.

I'm sure it made surgery a little easier. I do want to tell ya that at

354, surgery was painful afterwards. Some people don't have pain but I

did and I attribute that to a low tolerance to pain and my size. I did

the high protein low carb diet and lost 30 lbs in about 30 days. I

worked really hard at it b/c I wanted this surgery so badly. Good luck

in your endeavor to have surgery and know that any weight you drop prior

to surgery will most likely make it a little easier on you post-op.
