Guest guest
Sorry this is happening to you... I think you should go to ER or call your doctor. Is your leg warm or hot to the touch?
Guest guest
Judy, I don't have any experience with shingles either. What I thought was shingles turned out to be a severe allergic reaction that I should have gone to the ER with instead of waiting for the doctor's office to be open the next day. That was very foolish on my part and caused me very painful, sleepless night. My thoughts are to call your doctor and be prepared to go to the ER. If it is causing that kind of pain you might want to just go ahead. I hope you find out soon, so that you can get on the road to a quick recovery. Guest guest
I would advise getting seen asap. If it is shingles early treatment helps prevent the lasting pain that can stay for a long time. Definately hold your meds until you see or speak to your rheumy. Hoping its not shingles. Guest guest
My wife had a bout with shingles a few years ago. It's interesting that 'shingles' is only the grown-up version of Chicken Pox! Hers was treated with antibiotic cream and nothing more. It will get pretty painful, so pain meds are almost a must. It depends on how tough you are. lol Dennis in eastexas On Sat, Nov 8, 2008 at 6:18 PM, judyamcgee <judyamcgee@...> wrote: > Hope some of you can give me some input. Guest guest
My shingles was attacked aggressively at the beginning, so I had an easy time of it. Anyone who thinks he/she has it should get to a doctor ASAP and make sure that it is treated aggressively. I needed pain pills for just a couple of days. Some people have an awful time with it and have pain for months and months. I'm glad I didn't. I don't want to prove how tough I am, LOL. Guest guest
It sounds more like an infection to me. Shingles has a blistery rash, not blotches. You should see a doctor ASAP. Guest guest
Thanks to all who replied to my cry for help! It is wonderful to have a caring support group. I did go to the E.R. last night, & it is Shingles. I could almost see the blisters forming as I waited for the Dr. Not a fun Saturday night. Hopefully the medicine will help soon. The nerve pain started way before anything showed on my skin. Judy > > Hope some of you can give me some input. For the past few days, I have > been having new pain. I thought my right knee inflamed. Guest guest
Judy, I am so glad that you went. I try to never go to ER, also but sometimes we don't help ourselves by not going. I hope you are feeling better very soon. Shirley --- In , " judyamcgee " <judyamcgee@...> wrote: > > Thanks to all who replied to my cry for help! It is wonderful to have > a caring support group. Guest guest
It is the stress. Do not scratch. Wait for a few days, and it will go away. I get it once in a while every year. --- judyamcgee <judyamcgee@...> wrote: > Thanks to all who replied to my cry for help! It is > wonderful to have > a caring support group. Guest guest
Sorry to hear you have shingles. I've had them three times. No picnic that's for sure. However, the meds work quickly and work well. Hope you feel better soon. Phyllis
