Hello Diane

I know about flare-ups. Your either in one or your not - kinda like pregnant

your never just a lil bit preggers, but the intensity varies and the areas where

you feel the worst in. In your case it's your  hips... your flare-up is probably

systemic , but you feel it the worst in your hips. Flare-ups are different for

everyone and they effect different people differently. I have been in a flare-up

for just over 2 months now, they are having a rough time pulling me outa this

one.I just had my 1st infusion of Remicade. I am doing Prednisone 10mg's a day

to just get by. I take 100mg Morphine Sulfate 30mg Morphine Sulfate Immediate

Release.MTX. Fosomax B-12 injections  leucavorin. and just last thursday at my

rheummy's they gave me a few shots around my hips - toes. Fatigue is my big bad

complaint. I am just so tired. Sorry, I kinda wandered off track..the point

being you CAN hurt in one place - you probably hurt in more but the hips took

front and center

because they were the worst. When my flares start - I would say my hands, and

my hands have all my attention. Nothing else hurts - but I think it does , just

not as bad as my hands.

Oh my goodness, Diane, yes, RA does affect the hips, that's where I get it the

worst. That comment would make me look for another rheumy.

Also, just wondering, can mtx and naprosyn be taken together, ? I'd like to

know for my personal information.

Thanks, in PA

[ ] ?? FLARE ??

I think I'm having my first flair since getting things under control.

I take enbrel mtx and naprosyn. I woke this am with my hips hurting so

bad. I went to work but wasn't up to par and definately hurt. I

called my rheumy and he was out so I got the doc on call. He told me

he didn't believe RA affects the hips and maybe I should walk more.

I'm a nurse hello I walk a lot. I was speechless, so I called my PCP

and she got me some pain meds but I think maybe prednisone would help

more. My rheumy is back monday.

I just wanted to verify that I'm not crazy and RA can and does affect

hips. Right? I swear my rheumy said it can affect all joints but not

the back. Before I started my meds it even hurt my jaw.

I just hope this weather related and doesn't mean the enbrel isn't

working anymore. I have felt so good until today.

Thanks for listening, hope everyone isn't flaring with me

Diane :)

Diane,

I'm sorry you aren't feeling good.

No, you aren't crazy. RA can affect the hips. It can also affect the spine.

Hi, .

People on MTX may also take Naprosyn (naproxen). As with any other

NSAID/MTX combination, the NSAID should only be added with the

rheumatologist's approval and carefully monitored.

Cher and group;

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me.  I feel like I am having a flare

so much.  I was wondering can a flare happen on one area than the whole area of

RA.  My leg was killing me yesterday.  MY foot and my knee the main area.  My

shoulders was really hurting too.

I thought is this a flare.  Of course I call my very intelligent son-n-law, he

says call your doctor you got  insurance,  he says that to often haaaaaaaaa.  I

told him Gee you're no help lol.

So,  I took a couple of Excedrin Migraine (that's all I had on hand),  and went

to sleep (finally).

Now it's my other leg ( stemming from my ankle and knee).  I guess we tend to

deal with a lot of flares.  At first after starting the injections,  the pain

gradually stopped a lot.  Now it seems to be creeping back in.  Leaving than

creeping back.  It couldn't be from over exertion cause I haven't done anything

new or extra ( i know i should do more).  Flare or Not flare "   Who knows.  The

doctors don't even know sometimes.

I just wanted to comment on Flares.  I need to start on my red flags at the

bottom here,  but I was afraid I would forget what I wanted to say on this post

lol.  I have about 30 red-flags to answer.  Remember I said  " I read all my day

post than red-flag each one I want to comment on after. "   Well,  you guys that

sent posts for me to comment on hold on a lot of post from CLORA is on the way

haaaaaaaaa.

hugs everyone

Clora

Hi...

I'm wondering if it is typical to have flare-ups while on medication since

lately I have been experiencing a little relapse in my arm and shoulders

although it's nothing as bad as when I was not being treated. I assume it is a

matter of the right medication for my condition and it will take time with the

rheumatologist to zone in on life with no pain (and i'd settle for a little pain

knowing I have RA).

Hi Stan - I have had a flare-up while on the medication. But, if I'm

understanding things correctly, the goal is to try to stop the flares

altogether, so you might want to make note of it to tell your Rheumy

at next visit or call him/her come Monday. Sorry I couldn't have been

more help. Hope you are feeling better soon......Doreen :)
