Guest guest
Good point about the chewables! I always try to find the ones without too much sugar, but that's not easy, and a little sugar sitting in there is all it takes I suppose. Thanks Prue! > > My on has had a few too! Guest guest
Hi , I think I've posted similar sentiments on this topic before but I think it bears repeating: if the infection can't be brought under control and a root canal is suggested - refuse it! Have the tooth pulled. I know it would be hard because it's a front tooth, but if your son already has immune issues a root canal could be disastrous!! I had one done almost 4 years ago and it literally almost did me in. I can give you the details of the effects it had if you're interested but do yourself and your son a favor and avoid it! You can find a lot of research on this topic on the web......good luck!! At that time, we got it repaired with a composite material. That lasted a week and then fell off. So today, we got the second repair. She wants to xray again in a month to see status of infection. If there is a growing infection, she says that could mean a root canal. I REALLY want to avoid that. So, I am wondering if there is some supplements we can take to heal this possible infection. He already is on a strong anti-fungal protocol and Argentyn 23. What should we add to help with infection? Also, my son lost a baby tooth last summer that still does not have a permanent replacement. The dentist thinks he needs a stainless steel spacer. Is this a good idea? Ask if the x-ray showed a tooth bud, or lack of a tooth bud. Maybe the new tooth is taking too much time to come down, or maybe there is no new tooth at all. So far as I know, stainless steel is okay. But make sure it does not contain other ingredients. Other members of this message board have more info on this than I do. Guest guest
Stainless steel used in dentistry typically contain 5% nickel or titanium. Is either of these high on his hair test? Guest guest
I would also question the infection.. " going away " and check it in a month. It is very unusual for a tooth the get infected and heal itself. Usually and infection is referred to as abscess..meaning the tooth pulp is dying..via bacteria. This warrants pulling it. And getting a nice one of those non metal partials to replace it. Unfortunately. > My son fell of a barstool and significantly chipped one of his top > front permanent teeth. That was two weeks ago. Guest guest
It's true that BioCalex is more compatible, but biocompatibility is not the major problem with root canals, it's the toxins produced by the bacteria that will take up residence in the dentin tubules. There is no dental treatment that will kill all of these bacteria and they produce VERY strong toxins. I had my original root canal re-treated with lasers and a BioCalex root canal and I was a little better but still very, very sick - I never made significant improvements until the tooth was extracted. Guest guest
I don't know if it is from Babesia or not, since I don't know if I have it or not, since my duck wouldn't test for it. But the last few months my tetth and jaw bones have been hurting from time to time. I have three more Amalgams to get removed, but the dentists around here scare me, since my last experiences with one. Like GiGi on Lymenet says, if you have Amalgams, you can't get completely well until you address them. Jim. ### wyomin@... wrote: Someone told me that 'treatment' for babesia is associated with dental problems. I don't doubt that person, but it just doesn't make sense to me that when one treats is when you get dental issues. Yet, even for myself, after 2 years of increasing dental problems, since I started the artemisinin and now the crypto for babesia, my mouth has become so sore and my teeth so sensitive that I can hardly chew. So my own experience is of problems intensifying during treatment. I'm wondering if others have experiences this; and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about why it might happen. Guest guest
Has anyone experienced tooth loss/cavities/bone loss as an RA patient? I am facing my second extraction as an RA patient. The tooth next to the first one I lost cracked last Wednesday. My dentist told me he could TRY a root canal but chances are, it will not be able to be saved so he recommends extraction. I see the oral surgeon tomorrow. Both times I lost teeth, I was on prednisone. First time I was on 60 mg (same thing... CRACKED) and this time, I had just finished tapering off after being on for 6 months. Anyone else? My husband thinks I should be tested for Sjorgerens based on my dry eye and dry mouth symptoms. Honestly? I don't know if I could handle another diagnosis! I'm sick of this already! *~ Kami ~*

I was told the Neurontin I take was the culprit. I know other meds, prednisone is one that can really effect the teeth. I am pretty much just waiting till a Dentist will pull them all. I can't afford to have the all capped or implants.. SO I will wait and hopefully it won't be too long. Guest guest
I have had NUMEROUS fillings fall out over the past year. It is almost as if my system has gone haywire after my RA diagnosis. I just had a crown placed last summer on a tooth I had a root canal on... Now, I am losing the tooth beside it AND have already lost the other tooth.... I am looking at $2800 for a bridge for those 3 teeth. Wah. I would consider implants but I am metal sensitive and from what I understand there is metal in the posts. Guest guest
Since the onset of Sjogrens, I've had a bunch of cavities and 8 teeth pulled. The 'dry mouth' is the culprit, as I've been told, because saliva actually controls PH in your mouth and keeps most cavities at bay. When my gums heal from the last bout of extractions, I'm getting a 'partial' lower denture. Betty has been having some symptoms of Sjogrens and needs 4 jawteeth removed on Wednesday, and we'll be looking at a denture for her. She doesn't have RA or anything like it, so that's not a problem for her. Guest guest
WOW! I never made the connection between dental problems and RA other than the jaw problems I've had. I do have dry mouth, but I thought it was because of allergy medicines. I NEVER had a cavity until last year. Last month, I had 4! But until I get my locked jaw sorted out, I can't keep my mouth open long enough to get the cavities filled. ::: First time I actually keep my mouth shut, I guess. Guest guest
Tawny, Medicare won't cover the eye doctor for just writing a prescription for glasses. But they will pay an eye doctor for handling medical problems of the eye. Sjogren's is a medical problem of the eye. I have Fuchs' corneal dystrophy, and have seen an ophthalmologist for that, and also to check for diabetes damage, and then later for cataracts, and Medicare pays 80% of everything except the eyeglass prescription. I had cataract surgeries last March, and Medicare even helped pay for my new glasses. So ask your doctor if they're not coding it correctly when they send it in to Medicare. Guest guest
Eyes are too precious to neglect. Are you already using some moisturizing drops for the Sjogren's? I use GenTeal gel in my eyes at bedtime, and find it very soothing. If you use it in the daytime, it takes a few minutes before you can see clearly again, but there are all kinds of moisturizing drops available over the counter. Guest guest
the godzilla device is great on dental. metallic taste occurs even in people without fillings at all, it is some sort of electro-stim. If concerned abt mercury, look into dmsa (not dmso). bG > > By the way, my doc is sending me out to an integrative dentist to see if I have any dental problems that could be a chronic drain on my immune system. How do these devices stand up against those types of issues? I have 2 or 3 amalgam fillings. No root canals. No pain. Just chasing loose threads. > > ~ >
