Guest guest
Barbara and group; Barbara you're so refreshing to read hun. No way you lost a hundred pounds. That is so great. Thirty pounds is ok sweety. I know I hate the extra 5x weight too. I love prednisone. Can't get it though. I am feeling ok. Today has been an ok day. Yes I would choose pain free also. I quit smoking today. I thank you and everyone for the encouragment. Today has been fine for pain. But I was sad all day when I wanted a cigarette. I just told myself sorry, (great sadness come over my face), But no cigarette for me anymore. I would feel sad each time cause I wanted a cigarette so bad. I know it will be alright soon. It's just waiting to be over the addiction. I have no other choice to quit or die. I want to live and my new grandson to get to know me. I hope Cathrine and Shirley made it. I been sucking on hard candy all day. I have a nicatine patch on. Everyone is smoking outside. It's warm here during the day about 55 degrees so no one will freeze. They already know I will grab their cigarette if I see them smoking and inhale their lit cigarettes, so they are keeping far away from me when they smoke haaaaaaa. I told them what wanted to do and I am sure I couldnt control my self either lol. I am so glad it's almost bedtime the first day is the worst. My sadness will soon turn to joy as I save all that money, and save my life. Barbara Your a darling lady thanks for the compliments. I love to read your post to people, they are so filled with love and sincerety. God bless and take care. gentle hugs Clora ********************************************************* > > Hi Clora and : > > I have read both of your posts, and I know exactly how bad you feel > about yourself and your extra weight. Guest guest
Congratulations to you, Clora, for trying again! This time you're sure to make it! I'm glad that the other smokers are not smoking around you, because that would be too much temptation. Gather your angels for comfort, and they'll help you make it! I still have a pack of cigarettes, and it doesn't tempt me one bit. It's a special pack, though. It says on the front, " Apollo/ Soyuz. On the back it says this in Russian. They were issued to commemorate the first joint flight of the U.S. and Soviet space programs, back in July 1975. The pack would be in much better condition, but shortly after I got them, my young son took the cellophane wrapper off of it. Guest guest
Sue and group; Thanks Sue, I feel like I am giving up a very long old friend. I held in my hands for many years. Turns out cigarettes are not my friend and I just have to get over him. It hurts but time heals all wounds they say. I am gathering all my angels for protection from this stalking enemy cigarettes. Everywhere I turn it shows up. My purse, my jacket it wont leave me alone. I smell the house already. I been cleaning some. The house smells like a ash tray. I didnt smell this before. Oh how sneaky it is. It is here and was hiding everywhere in plain sight. I will conquer this aweful demon that haunts me, it will fade outside, I won't have this in my house anymore. Right now I am not going to worry about losing weight. I am so hungry I could eat every thing in sight. But we havent went shopping so everything has to be cooked lol ( lucky me lol). I don't cook big meals any more. My husband is at work and the days he works its very small meger meals. I will start changing eating habits in a few weeks hopefully. My husband is thin and lean no matter what he eats. gentle hugs clora ******************************************************** > Congratulations to you, Clora, for trying again! Guest guest
Hi Clora! Thinking of you and praying for you in your battle against that demon nicotine. Right now you are doing the very best thing you can for your health by not smoking. Don't fret about the weight, in fact, go buy new clothes, ones that don't smell smokey! Consider joining a support group thru your local hospital, that can really help. When you're a few weeks out from the cigs, we can start losing weight together. I have a ton of baby weight to get off of me and we can share tips. For now, eat what you need to, you're in a great struggle and if it takes a few extra calories to get you thru, that's a ok!!! Guest guest
Hi Clora - I'm so glad to hear you are trying again to " kick the habit " . Its not easy, but it CAN be done. And I know you can do it. Just take one day at a time, one hour at a time or one minute at a time. After 72 hours the nicotine is out of your system. Drink lots of Orange Juice (if you can) and water to help flush your system. You mentioned before that you smoked while you were on your computer. Are you able to sit somewhere different while you're on the computer? Change up the routine, if you can. For me, sitting outside while reading, after a meal and driving were the three toughest spots when the craves would hit the hardest in the beginning. So, I would not read outside or sit in a different chair if I did sit outside. I would find something else to do after meals and I got some really good smelling air fresheners for when I was in the car, kept the windows rolled up and cranked the A/C. I'm so happy to hear that your family is willing to smoke outside - for your health. That will go a long way in helping you. If they are bored indoors, maybe they could wash the curtains or paint the walls. Anything that will help them to stay busy while inside and also get rid of the smell at the same time. A friend mentioned that after being smoke free for over 6 months, she realized that this was her first smoke-free Christmas. When they went to put up their artificial tree, she kept smelling something and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. It was the stale cigarette smoke on her Christmas tree! So, you see, the smell hangs around for a long time. I liked Barbara's analogy. I also would rather be pain free than thin. I also would rather live smoke free than die. Go ahead and cry if you want. Giving up smoking is like losing a friend. But don't mourn too long. That damned ole' nicodemon is not worth it. Hang in there, Clora - YOU CAN DO THIS!!..........Doreen > > > Barbara and group; > > Barbara you're so refreshing to read hun. No way you lost a > hundred pounds. That is so great. Guest guest
Remember too that protein helps you feel satiated. Maybe get some protein powder that you can mix into warm milk when you're feeling snackish. I do this with the chocolate stuff and not only does it seem like a sweet treat, but it makes you feel full in between meals. ________________________________ From: CLORA <clora4jesus@...> Sent: Sunday, December 7, 2008 11:01:10 PM Subject: [ ] Re: losing weight and kicking the habit. Guest guest
Dennis, you crack me up!! At the same time, I would say that your remedy works when the Rheumy increases the Prednisone, too. **LOL** Doreen > > When I get hungry, I get a tub of Ice Cream and a bag of cookies > and snack on them until the hunger goes away. > > Dennis in eastexas >
Guest guest
No, , I wouldn't do that. In fact it does work for me. I lost 10 pounds recently using that very plan. I started eating breakfast, cereal and mixed fruit, then another snack/meal in the late afternoon, then the Ice Cream and Cookies about 3 hours before bedtime. Right now I weigh in at 174#, it was 182#. It's not my fault it doesn't work for all of you, wouldn't that be nice??? Guest guest
Testosterone - the one main difference that allows you to eat cookies and ice cream and still lose weight. If it wouldn't make my voice deepen and my facial hair get worse, I'd say give me some until this weight gets down to acceptable levels. But, since I was born a female and enjoy being a woman, I'll deal with the curves and pass the ice cream and cookies onto you - well some of it.........Doreen > > No, , I wouldn't do that.
