Guest guest
Hi Shandi, I have had that problem for many years and as a matter of fact I mostly ware sneakers with orthotics in them, very thick cushioned slippers but light weight and easy to bend....etc it can be extremely painful and at times makes walking anywhere for any length of time very difficult. there is not much that can be done. i've spent money looking for answers but it's just the way it is. Massage, exercise and stretching can help but it has its limits. It can feel like there is a pebble in the balls of my feet that makes me limp. Then I'll feel pain up to my ankle. Sorry I don't have better info for you. Stella --- In , " S. Pruitt " <seriouslysanibel@...> wrote: > > I am going next Wednesday to the orthopedic foot specialist. Does anyone have crippling pain in the ball of their foot? I do fairly well if I am wearing shoes or am on carpet, but my knees (my nice new knees!) almost buckled from under me the other night when I went to walk on my kitchen tile flooring as the pain was so great. > > Was wondering what they may do as an evaluation and/or a solution. > > Thanks! > Shandi > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I guess that is what I was afraid of. I am typically a barefoot baby; I hate shoes. What you described as a pebble is a good description...when explaining the pain to my husband I said it felt like I was stepping on a marble. My heels will hurt too, so I tend to walk on the sides of my feet if I walk on uncushioned surfaces. The more painful foot, my left, has some nice RA spread going on as well. My RD said it is typical in RA...SIGH. Just go through painful bilateral knee surgeries and had this idea I would be better! Always something! Guest guest
Hi - that certainly does sound painful! Does the podiatrist not want to do surgery on your foot again? To my knowledge, the RA meds will not reverse any damage already done, but will help to keep it from getting any worse. I'm glad you have finally gotten a diagnosis after all of these years. My prayers are that you will get on the right combination of meds to keep you feeling better all the time........Doreen Eleven years ago I began having severe foot pain. I saw a podiatrist who had an ultrasound done. There was a nodule in my foot. I had major foot surgery because this nodule had surrounded the second toe. Long story short, the surgical pathology came back that this nodule was rheumatoid. I never tested for the positive for the rheumatoid blood test. I was in agonizing pain again about a year ago. To make a long story short I was able to find a real rheumatologist at Loyola University in Chicago who did further blood work and confirmed the diagnosis. By this time, I could not walk. I now have custom shoe inserts and prescription new balance shoes. I am also still on prednisone after a year, and also taking MTX. I am still not able to walk barefoot, but the pain is not as bad and i am somewhat better! Goodluck!
