Hi -

The minimum passing score is 650 points. There is no set number of

questions you need answer to pass because the questions/tests are

scaled--depending on the difficuty. Check out the PTCB website for

details...you'll find the scoring info under the " after the exam "

option. http://www.ptcb.org

Good question - I'd like to know the groups answer to this, also. I know that I

had major Lyme fog before beginning treatment, and a slight return when I

stopped abx a few months ago. I had an in-depth complete brain MRI last spring,

and it turned out clear - no scarring, no tumors, no damage. I would have sworn

the results would show something, since I had such major brain fog a few months

earlier...Tom

Is the only way to be certain that you have neuro-lyme is to have a

spinal tap or does it go by symptons?

Thanks for any comments.

I think a spect scan is for neuro lyme... as far as spinal tap I think that it

does not show bands present the majority of the time....

I believe the IDA recommends the LP to confirm neurolyme. I guess they

feel BB have a hard time crossing the Blood-brain barrier so finding

evidence of LD in the CSF, is the clincher.Something tells me that

they really do it to see how seriously the patient wants treatment!

However, most of use know that LD has no problem crossing the B-B

barrier, so it should be diagnosed on its symptomology. Anyone who has

LD for any length of time will have some degree of neuro involvement.

A clear MRI does not rule out neurolyme.

what is the ida?

what is an lp? do you mean lumbar puncture...I think you are mistaken as per

dr b and his protocal...it turns up rarely in the csf.....again the spect can

show neuro involvement and same with symptoms...but if the patient really wants

it then go for it..

eric

be careful who does your lumbar puncture....and in the future whoever

originally posted this message please use full words...

thanks itll make it better to understand you...

What do these mean, please?

Thank you.

CSF = cerebral spinal fluid

IDA = infectious diseases association

LP = lumbar puncture (spinal tap)

IDS = infectious diseases specialist

sorry, I tend to use a lot of acronyms.

there is also a file here:

/files/

with some further info.

cheers

Lyme is a clinical diagnosis. Neuro Lyme diagnosis is symptom based

diagnosis. There is really no need to go through the pain, risk and

expense of a spinal tap.

After the prolonged diarrhea he has had, it would HAVE to off. ;-)

Hopefully that was his only problem and perhaps the original symptoms were triggered by a virus.

Time will tell. :-)

Another question?

Hi,

I wrote a few days ago about my son and his diarrhea. Well I gave up on of the cereals (rice cereal) well he gets it twice a day and replaced the morning one with a yogurt strawberry I think. I did this over the course of a few days. Well in that time where he was having diarrhea nasty poops he started going every few days then and now today woo hoo it was normal!!! Since he gets the cereal twice a day and now only one but he gets yogurt now I am thinking it is maybe his intestinal or gut flora is off. Does anyone relate to this?

Thanks,

Tami

Regina,

I hope you'll be feeling better very soon.

If you have an inflammatory condition, fatigue could be caused by

that. On the other hand, profound fatigue and pain can also be caused

by fibromyalgia (which is not an inflammatory condition).

Plantar fasciitis may occur in people with RA, but it is not a

condition specific to RA.

Timing was perfect.  Could the need to sleep be because of the inflamation in

my knees and feet?  The doctor said I had plantar faciitis in my feet.  Does

this go with RA?

Yes I get days like this. It is terrible and feels like it will never pass but

it does.

I haven't even been diagnosed with RA or anything else and I have already

decided I would rather be sleepy instead of in pain. It seems like the pain is

moving all over my body. My elbows, feet, knees or hands. Something hurts all

the time. I noticed only one knee was really sore today. I thought with RA,

both knees would be hurting. Like I said, I don't know what is happening but

whatever it is did not start until I was sixty, I admire all of you that have

been battling the pain for years.

Hi Regina,

I have been on Lyrica for several months and I have some of those same strange

behavior patterns.

Last week I went outside to help my kdis with the Halloween decorations. I told

them that I could not help them, but I would go out and keep them company. I

was sitting in my wheelchair, there was a nice breeze, the sun was just setting

and before I knew it, my head was to the side and there I was blowing ZZZZZZZ's

in my front yard. My kids said I looked so peaceful, they didn't want to

disturb me......I am lucky they didn't leave me outside and put a candle in my

mouth like a Jack-o-Lantern.

I can't tell you how many TV shows that I have missed the ending of, for the

exact same reason. Very frustrating. Now I carry a box of tooth picks in my

purse, just to keep my eye balls open!

Gentle, tender,angel hugs........
