Guest guest
Diagnosed this week. They were trying to decide between RA and Lupus. I'm seronegative on the marker for RA, but they decided that clinically I fit, and also that the inflammatory markers and certain vitamin deficiencies normally seen are there, but the only thing that points more toward lupus is that I've been vomiting a lot........and they didn't think that was enough to go that way. My xrays were pretty good on my hands. I showed some bone spurs in my ankles. I started prednisone this week, folate and vit D. I start methotrexate tomorrow. This is all a bit overwhelming, I'm 40 and single mom to two boys. ~Paige~
Guest guest
Welcome Paige. I so agree with you that all this is so overwhelming. I felt the same way when RA reared its ugly head to me 6 1/2 years ago. I had never heard of it before, and was scared to death. I will be 70 in Jan., so never expected anything like this at my age! I am doing well, and all my RA meds. are working, and I have been in a medicine induced remission for 1 year now. I am very grateful for this for however long it lasts. I was hit the hardest in my feet, ankles, wrists, and some fingers. Remember, there is always hope for all of us. I wish you great success with your RA meds., and hope you begin to feel better soon. My life has changed due to the RA, I just had to learn to do things differently, pace myself, and rest as much as I can. I had to give some things up, but that is o.k. There is still so much that I can do. Take care of yourself, and rest as much as you can. Wishing you many pain free days ahead. Welcome to our very special group of so many amazing people here. It was a great day for me when I found this group of loving, caring, informative members. It is a great support for all of us, as no one knows how we feel when the RA is flaring, and what we have to deal with everyday of our lives. I love everyone here. Guest guest
Paige, Welcome to the group! Everyday feels like a new adventure along with each new medication. The challenges will be many, but you will get stronger and wiser... Fortunately, this group does help a ton! Whether you need to vent, get advice or just know that your not alone in this new chapter of your life. This group has helped me tremendously as I'm sure they will be here for you as well. Stay strong, learn as much as you can and remember to be your own advocate. The Docs can't see all your symptoms so you need to let them know when things seem odd or just not right. Gentle hugs and a warm welcome Bonnie > > Diagnosed this week. They were trying to decide between RA and Lupus.
