Hi, Joanna. By definition, arthritis only affects the joints.

Hi --

I haven't heard of RA affecting the brain, but Lupus is notorious for it. Folks

with lupus complain of " brain-fog " i.e. inability to think

clearly, and also of memory problems.

When I was first severely affected with RA my doctor told me that there was a

form of RA that affected the salivary glands.  At the time my saliva practically

turned to " glue " and this was before I started taking my RA meds.

YOu might be thinking of Sjogren's syndrome. Some peoiple have primary

Sjogren's without another disease, however 50% of RA patients (?) have

secondary Sjogren's which dries out the mouth and eyes. Hope that helps,

Kate F

hey animal lover- be sure to stop by our website & see what i do- im the

director for Critter camp Exotic Pet Sanctuary http://www.crittercamp.biz

i'd have to say some of the hardest things to do some days are opening water

bottles- hundreds of them! when my wrist & hands are acting up its painful!

that and cleaning cages - the aquarium ones are so ehavy! the volunteers help as

much as they can but we ahve to do alot of it ourselves!

african grey's are so smart and one of the best parrots to ahve as a friend :)

we ahve a green wing macaw and an amazon- the amazon is way smarter than the

macaw- and more reliable too as far as not biting :)

take care!
