Guest guest
, if you believe the CCSVI theory, then blocked arteries and veins in the brain can contribute to both MS and ischemic stroke. B-vitamins are very good for both. Folic acid and other B vitamins help decrease homocysteine concentrations, which lower the risk for stroke. The metabolism of homocysteine has been linked to several vitamins, but particularly folic acid (folate), B6, and B12 (Schwammenthal Y et al 2004). I would take 1) a good co-enzymated B-complex (I use Country Life), 2) extra folate, 3) P5P (form of B-6), 4) and methylcobalamin sublingual (B12). Maybe this would help. Do you take any vitamins? Guest guest
Hi Beverly,  Thanks for the excellent advice. I have been taking multivitamins, however I have not been regularly taking a b complex. I eat strawberries frequently for the folic acid content and consume other fruits and vegetables and chicken, occasionally eat red meat and only drink distilled water. I dont smoke or drink alcohol or take any prescription medications other than my asthma inhaler and I have been on a strict gluten free casein free diet since 1/1/09 and this regimen has helped me tremendously. I do eat grains that don't have wheat barley or rye and I seem to notice that I feel better when I consume very few grains and concentrate on more raw fruit and vegetables in my diet.  In fact, this past year I had been in complete remission, in pretty much excellent health, working full time and able to exercise and live as though I were MS free, until this major MS exacerbation hit me on 1/10/10, I think it was triggered by major stress levels due to my bad work environment (state employee).  I used to use country life b vitamins, but it is time to hit the health food store once again as I ran out many months ago.  I am going to check out p5p, I have never tried that supplement.  Thanks again for your info  Subject: Help new to group To: mscured Date: Wednesday, February 3, 2010, 3:28 PM  , if you believe the CCSVI theory, then blocked arteries and veins in the brain can contribute to both MS and ischemic stroke. Take care, Beverly
