I joined this group to help my brother. We have arthritis in our family & he has RA. His RA has gotten much worse since his doctor put him on cholesterol medication. He has told this to the doctor who prescribed the cholesterol medication but the doctor tells him it is his imagination, that cholesterol medication would not cause this to happen. All my brother knows is that his RA is worse when he is taking it. Has anyone else had this type of reaction when taking cholesterol medication? I would appreciate any responses. Thank you. >> It is known that some cholesterol medications cause aches. My husband had to stop taking Lipitor because he was aching all over. He does not have RA. I tried to do a search for a medical article, but only found stories of many people who have the same problem. One person was tested for RA, but the symptoms went away when they stopped taking the drug. btw, my husband is now on a different cholesterol medication and no longer has the aches. dd **************Access 350+ FREE radio stations anytime from anywhere on the web. Guest guest
Shirlee, I know that statin drugs are associated with muscle pain for some individuals. Switching doses or brands can help. Maybe he's feeling pain and thinking it's his RA, but really it's muscle pain? ________________________________ From: lv2stitch53 <lv2stitch53@...> Sent: Monday, April 20, 2009 8:55:11 AM Subject: [ ] Cholesterol Medication Hello. Guest guest
Shirlee I have had RA for 10 years, been on mtx since then. I started Crestor for my cholesterol problem a year and a half ago and it has been nothing less than wonderful, it took 100 points off my score. Could your brother be having a reaction to the chol medicine in itself. I believe the side effects are muscle pain, could he be thinking that it's RA pain? What RA med is he on if you don't mind my asking? in PA [ ] Cholesterol Medication Hello. I joined this group to help my brother. We have arthritis in our family & he has RA. Guest guest
Shirlee, Joint pain and muscle pain are pretty common side effects of statins. Which symptoms of his seem worse when he takes the medication? He should find another doctor. Not an MD On Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 8:55 AM, lv2stitch53 <lv2stitch53@...> wrote: > > > Hello.
