Guest guest
Hello Heidi I've been taking morphine for the past two weeks. Previous to that, I had tried ibuorphine (sp?) tablets and pain patches that I believe are morphine based. Based on this, my GP felt it was quite safe for me to go onto morphine as they weren't giving sufficient pain relief but I'd shown myself tolerant of morphine. Alas, I quickly turned into a walking zombie on the morphine - I just couldn't keep awake - and I became so constipated it was unbelievable. I decided on Saturday that I'd had enough and stopped taking it and was back to normal by Monday. My doctor - who is a star - was surprised because I hadn't had these problems with the tablets / patches. So it's back to the patches for me but he's given me the next strength up of patch. Sorry that mine isn't the best of experiences to relate to you - just bad luck in my case! Hugs Elaine [ ] question about morphine Hello, I was told by my Dr that the next step for pain was morphine or vicodine. Can anyone shed light on their experiences with either? Un fortuntaly, I must go to work and be somewhat alert.Tramadol is out of the question, the regular ones did nothing and the exrended release ones cost 162.00 and cant do it.Thank you, Heidi in Pa ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
I get relief from my vicodin and I can function normally. Everyone is different but that is how it is for me. My mom takes them and she has to take a nap. Its probably best to try and see how they work for you. When I was on Morphine in the hospital it made me feel ill and I couldn't eat anything. I personally didn't like it but they probably had me on a mega dose since I had major surgery. Maybe it would be better if I hadn't been on so much. --- In , " giambifan2001 " <giambifan2001@...> wrote: > > Hello, > I was told by my Dr that the next step for pain was morphine or > vicodine. Can anyone shed light on their experiences with either? Guest guest
Heidi and group; Here's my experience with vicoden and morphine. Maybe if you listen to your doctors orders closely you won't do what I did. Of course the morphine I didnt believe anything I heard, and was ok if I didnt ignor the signs I would have been Ok. With morphine I was already depressed but didnt care because of that. I slept for a year gained a hundred pounds. I didn't get addicted cause when I quit the only withdrawls I had was a little nervousness. While waiting for disability I thought I could sleep anyway. Yes I slept with no problem all day. I received 90 morphine pills I think a month. OH I see it now. Maybe under strict doctors orders morphine is ok. Lortab (vicodin). I got 90 for 3 months. I became immuned to it in 3 months. I got them for my headaches. I didnt get addicted either but the doctor took them away real quick. His reason was from rebound migraines. The first month of vicodine worked. Sometimes the migraines was so bad so I had to take 2 of my 5mg tabs of vicodine. After I complained the 5mg vicodince dont help he gave me 7 mg. After a while 7 mg didnt help. Now he took them all away because of the rebound migraines. Good luck. Oh the vicodin did nothing for my body pain. gentle hugs Clora PS I hope you have better luck with it than I did. ************************************************************** > > Hello, > I was told by my Dr that the next step for pain was morphine or > vicodine. Can anyone shed light on their experiences with either? Guest guest
Heidi and group; Oh yes I forgot, I had to take a nausea pill an half hour before I took my morphine pill or I was puking my guts out. I got nausea pils by precription from my doc (my last rheumy) Oh If I could get some morphine now I would only take it when the pain was horrible. Taking it everyday is not good. Good luck and be careful. That year I took morphine was real blur lol. (Boo Hoo, don't get it anymore got a new rheumy). gentle hugs Clora *********************************************************** > I get relief from my vicodin and I can function normally. Guest guest
Hi Heidi - Morphine is a no-go for me. I get horrible headaches from it. I haven't tried the Vicodin. I take Percocet 10/325mg for pain and it cools things off to a tolerable level. I don't work, so I wouldn't know if it would interfere with your need to be alert at your job. Maybe a smaller dose. Take care. Keep us posted.............Doreen --- In , " giambifan2001 " <giambifan2001@...> wrote: > > Hello, > I was told by my Dr that the next step for pain was morphine or > vicodine. Can anyone shed light on their experiences with either? > Unfortuntaly, I must go to work and be somewhat alert.Tramadol is out > of the question, the regular ones did nothing and the exrended > release ones cost 162.00 and cant do it.Thank you, > Heidi in Pa >
