Guest guest
HI, Kami. I haven't read of an association between MTX and hypothyroidism. I also did a quick check and didn't find anything. There is a link between psoriatic arthritis (and other autoimmune diseases) and thyroid dysfunction. http://preview.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17014017 Not an MD On Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 6:16 AM, ~Kami~ <kamilleon@...> wrote: > Does anyone here suffer from both of these? > > : I am asking this for my daughter. Guest guest
, THANK YOU! I never thought to check PsA and hypothyroidism! My brain immediately went MTX/hypothyrpidism because her level of fatigue has been seriously intense after the MTX! Actually, after she got her flu shot! THANK YOU AGAIN! *~ Kami ~* Re: [ ] MTX and Hypothyroidism HI, Kami. I haven't read of an association between MTX and hypothyroidism. I also did a quick check and didn't find anything. Guest guest
I have to agree that there does not appear to be data correlating MTX and hypothyroidism. I did some searching around on Google and PubMed. Nothing I got on the scholar or PubMed came up with a connection. I suppose anything is possible but as far as it being directly related to MTX, no data exists that I found that says so. Also, I saw what you said about your daughter and her fatigue. I don't know how much she is taking but I know I take a really low dose of 10 mg once a week and it knocks me out usually that day. I got my flu shot this year and managed to make it through without major incident. I did get rather itchy though. :/ It is very possible the added fatigue after the flu shot is just the natural reaction to the shot and also a combination of being immuno-suppressed. Most people who get the flu shot end up getting a bit worn and maybe a tiny cold for a few days. We are compromised so... there you go. Of course like I'm not a doctor. Good luck to you and your daughter! ~ Graves > > Does anyone here suffer from both of these? > > : I am asking this for my daughter. Guest guest
Kami, You're welcome. So she only had fatigue since the flu shot? Never before with the MTX alone? Guest guest
Welllll... She has only been on MTX 12 weeks. She was 6 weeks in when she got her flu shot. At that point, there was SOME fatigue but nothing like it is now..... I can't wait til her rheumy gets back in town to figure this out! *~ Kami ~* Re: [ ] MTX and Hypothyroidism Kami, You're welcome. Guest guest
I hope your daughter will be feeling less fatigued soon, Kami. I'm sure it's stressful for you to worry about her.
