Re: Question for those who INJECT Humira

It doesn't matter where I inject - I've never noticed any lack of effect. For

me, there was never any immediate reaction to the Humira, in terms of feeling

better. It built up really slowly, so the effect was gradual. It took 6 months

for me to realize the full effect of the Humira. I guess it's good in a way

because if I have to push it back when I go on antibiotics, I don't notice any

difference.

I inject in my stomach, just rotating from side to side. I used to inject in my

thighs, but I got bruises there almost every time. My doctor told me it was

better to inject in my stomach because supposedly it disperses better there.

Hi Kami

I inject inmy abdomin usually as it hurt less. I took it in my arm last

week and I wanted to cry. I have also had pain when it goes in my leg. Its

not the needle that hurts its the medicine going in.

Hi Guys,

I don't know if this will help, but I inject too, not Humira, but a nurse

told me that when you use the alcohol swipe before you inject, to totally let

it dry. If you don't, it causes that burn. Now that I let it dry, no burn!

The other day I didn't pay attn, and didn't wait long enough, and I got the

burn.

Wonder if it might help you?

I'll try to pay better attention next time Heidi. I was thinking that myself,

and I've been waiting about a minute before I inject after I've used the alcohol

wipe. I'll be sure to double check next time.

Heidi and Lori and group;

I leave the humirra out for about an hour and my husband injects it.  I have no

pain anymore.  Some one on here told me an half hour.  We would forget and do it

in an hour each time.  I hope that is OK.  Sorry your having so much problems

with it Lori.  God bless and take care.

Gentle hugs

Clora

I'm hoping that I'm not making it out to be worse than it is. It only burns for

about 8 seconds and that's it. Over and done with. I only commented on it

because sometimes it makes people feel better to know that they aren't the only

one experiencing something. That's the only side effect that I have from the

Humira, so I'm one happy camper. *grin* I consider Humira to be my miracle

drug. It was that combined with the MTX that put me over the edge and gave me

much of my life back. Now I just have to get over this flare, LOL!

Kami,

I inject Humira into either thigh OR into the tissue 2 " or more out from my

naval, in

the abdomen. I get the same effect wherever I inject it and I try to rotate

sites.

I told my dr that I wanted the syringe, vs the pen. I bet you'd like it better.

It's easier to

use and I try to inject very slowly because it stings like crazy.

I woke up with a cold this morning, sore throat, stuffiness. I won't take my

Humira

this week but I'm sure hoping the cold goes away by itself. Unfortunately, they

rarely do.

Hope you feel better,

Joy

Re: Humira injections

I leave at room temperature about 15 minutes. I've definitely found that the

s-l-o-w-e-

r I inject the less painful it is during and after the injection. Also, I

thought that might

alleviate the injection site redness that some complain about. I've never had

that either.

I think a room temperature injection plus the slowness of injecting is the key.

I'm just thankful that I'm tolerating it. In fact, the drug has made a huge,

huge

difference in my life. I don't need the big doses of Ultram that I was taking.

Don't need

any at all, in fact.

The trouble is that all of these drugs seem to work for awhile and then become

non-

effective. Has anybody taken Humira more than 3 years and still having a good

effect?
