Guest guest
Hi Patti.  I have been on my B12 now for over a month and my Neuropathy is gone, no more pain, tingling etc. It has worked wonderfully for me, and if you go this route, I hope it helps you too.. My Dr. had me buy my B12 pills in the health store. They are tiny, tasteless and disolve under my tongue in a few seconds. I take one each morning.-  I have never had to take the B12 shot but my mother did. She got one a month until her levels were back to normal. I have no idea if they hurt or not.  I hope you feel better soon.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Patti Yuswak <WhtBC10@...> Subject: [ ] Vit B-12 Deficiency Date: Tuesday, December 7, 2010, 8:51 AM  Hi Everyone, I had my B-12 blood work done and turns out I am low! Number should be between 180 and 914 and I'm at 189, so I'm going to see my Dr this afternoon for treatment options (that's how the nurse put it). First, thank you to everyone who emailed me about B-12, I'm really hoping it helps my neuropathy. Second, if anyone can tell me what they do for their B-12 deficiency I'd really appreciate it, I'm just really curious what options I may get from the Dr. I've been searching on the internet about it but I'd love to hear real life stories. One thing I read was that the B-12 shot is very painful as it's intramuscular and also that there are a ton of side effects possible. So I'm excited that it might help, but a little apprehensive about what this help will entail. Thank you, PJ
Guest guest
Hi PJ I take the B12 shot every week. My husband gives it to me. He does a good job and I never feel any pain. My daughter gave it to me once God bless her and I ended up with a huge bruise that I hid from her for a week and wow did it hurt. Try and find someone who knows how to gives a shot, maybe a neighbor or friend whos a nurse or even givess themselves shots for dietbetes. They really are worth. I have no side effects. Just don't have it done at night. It will keep you awake. Hope that helps Carol [ ] Vit B-12 Deficiency Hi Everyone, I had my B-12 blood work done and turns out I am low! Guest guest
Thank you so much Barbara. I just started on this group and everyone here has made me feel so much better, emotionally. The Dr started me on B12 shots today, she wants me to have one per day for 5 days, then one a week for a month, then she wants to re-test. At that point, depending on what the tests say, she'll either keep me on shots on a monthly basis or I'll take a pill. And the shot didn't hurt at all! :-) PJ
Guest guest
Hi Carol, The Dr didn't say anything at all about having someone other than them give me the shot, but maybe that's because I may not be on the shot long term, that's still up in the air. Fortunately the nurse who gave me the shot did it very well. Even though it had to go into a muscle the only thing I felt was a slight prick when the needle went in. Although my muscle does feel a tiny bit sore now, but compared to the rest of me it's nothing. :-) Thank you for the advice on when to get the shot, I have my appts for the next 4 days and they're all early to mid-afternoon. Although I'm so exhausted all the time I can just sit down and fall asleep (gets a bit difficult driving at times), but maybe these will help. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :-) Thanks! Guest guest
Yes, I take vitamin b 12 complex shots and it works very well for me. I have been taking vitamin b 12 complex shots for many many years. It has a lot more benefits than you'll ever know, Not only does it help with neropathy but it also give you energy and I swear it's like getting my joints lubricated, it is also great for mood and helps balance emotions. I can't say enough about the benefits of B12 complex. The trick is,when injecting B12 complex, is to inject it very slow and then it's not painful at all, but if you inject it too fast it creates a major charlie horse, and that is very painful. This has been my experience, I hope this is helpful for you. .....Randy..... Guest guest
Thank you Randy! Yes, everyone's experience has been very helpful for me. Do the B-12 shots work fast? Or is it really an individual response? PJ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of rjgang10@... Subject: Re: [ ] Vit B-12 Deficiency Yes, I take vitamin b 12 complex shots and it works very well for me. Guest guest
Hi PJ.  I am glad you started your B 12 shots. You will feel better and better each day. You will be surprised how tired you were before. My mother always said the B12 shots helped so much and it was like a Spring tonic.  Thank you for your kind words. Everyone here is so great and helpful and supportive. It has been the best thing I did for myself joining here. We are not alone with our daily struggle with RA.  Take care and feel better soon.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Patti Yuswak <WhtBC10@...> Subject: RE: [ ] Vit B-12 Deficiency Date: Wednesday, December 8, 2010, 7:14 PM  Thank you Barbara! Guest guest
PJ, The nurse gave me my B-12 shot, I think 1 a week for about a month and then she showed me how. I give 2cc to myself every two weeks. Occassionally it will hurt, switching to the other leg helped. Been doing this about 2 years now. Sometimes I will miss one shot, but feel better when I do them as scheduled. Sorry for late reply, my computer has been down. Guest guest
Thank you . I just finished getting my daily shots (5) and now she wants me on 1 per week for a month then re-test to see where we should go from here. I thought I had read online that a person cannot give a B-12 shot to themselves, I'm glad to know that's not the situation in case I need to go on these long-term.
