Guest guest
Diane, how incredibly thoughtful, her email is muchadoaboutbeatrice@... You're in our thoughts and prayers this holiday season, you must miss your mom and MIL very much and that sounds like such a traumatic way to lose them. Bone marrow biopsy went well this am. She was a soldier and did it with only lidocaine. The onco is great and was encouraging her to get mad, yell, swear. We met with the social worker afterward. She is *wonderful* and is getting Bridget set up to see the repro medicine people asap to talk about fertility issues. Tomorrow is surgery to remove some lymph glands and a larger CT to see how far it's spread. So far the onco's all is Hodgkins which responds really well to treatment. Off to work for the pm, she's comfortable on the couch. I'm trying to get her on a benadryl routine b/c she's still very itchy. I think the tumors secrete histamines and I'd like to start getting her levels down. She decided she wants to go to Ireland when this is over. I'm going to get her to get her passport application in. Each month I'd like to work on her goal, get her brochures, pictures, etc. Hugs everyone, Kate F -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Support the Lymphoma Research Foundation www.lymphoma.org Our journey curingbridget.blogspot.com ________________________________ From: diane_lilley <diane_lilley@...> Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 10:13:47 AM Subject: [ ] Re: OT: my sister's health Kate, two questions: 1. Does your sister have an ipod? 2. If I wanted to send her an e-card, does she have her own email or would I be able to send to you to send to her? My mom was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas way back in 96 (different situation, she was stage 4 and it was found after I found her in respiratory arrest at home, didnt help that she had been sick for years). i like to do stuff at Christmas to remember her. Especially hard this year since my MIL (who was wonderful to me) died in a freak accident the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. It has been a very sad Christmas season, and I am way behind on what I usually do (I just ordered gifts for the kids at 11:30 last night). Please let me know ASAP, you can email my work account at lilleydmail (DOT) nih.gov . Thanks and Merry Christmas, Di > > Hi everyone. My 26 yr old sister Bridget who lives with us was feeling unwell. Her lymph glands were swollen lately. After an xray and CT, it looks like she has a large mass in her neck, chest and into her abdomen that is likely lymphoma, a disease that many of us in the RA community are very concerned about. We see the surgeon and oncologist tomorrow. Hopefully we will get a biopsy asap and she can get started on chemo. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers if you are so inclined. She is single and I'm praying she'll be able to maintain her fertility after treatment. Our parents are traveling in Argentina and I am her only support. I'm selfishly a bit nervous for myself b/c I've had night sweats for a long time that they had chalked up to hormones. I might get a CT to be sure... our uncle had lymphoma 3 years ago. I wonder if there's a connection between the RA genes and this. Thank you for thinking of her, Kate F > > > > > >
