Guest guest
I'd really been wondering if my medications had been working. I had to stop them due to some boil-like infected pores on my belly that, after culturing, turned out to NOT be MRSA. It turned out to be a naturally occurring staph that is resistant to Clindamycin which I've never taken before. I had been on Orencia infusions with Arava (Leuflonomide) and Sulfasalazine. My original GP-doc told me my infections were due to me having diabetes wihich was total crap. We argued. Loudly. Obscenities were traded back and forth. I must admit...I felt much better afterwards, too. I demanded a sugar test and...oh...surprise! My blood sugar levels to be perfectly normal. He attempted an apology for the diabetes thing and 4 days LATER prescribed Bactrim after the culture of the infection came back. He is no longer my doctor. If I have to light someone up with my foul mouth I lose confidence in them for some reason. My NEW (and GREAT) GP doctor has me scrubbing with Hibiclens two times a week and prescribed an antibacterial ointment that I work into my belly twice a day. That has helped a lot after the initial round of Bactrim. Today my rheumy agreed the areas are vastly improved but one isn't completely healed so now I have to take yet another round of antibiotics and return in 2 weeks. I totally understand why I have to wait to restart my meds and why I have to take antibiotics again. Before I got these stupid infections I'd questioned whether my meds were helping or not. Now that I've had to quit taking them? Oh, yeah, they were helping tremendously! Apparently they work slowly and subtly! I can attest, due to the amount of non-stop pain that I'm in, that Orencia, Arava, and Sulfasalazine really and truly do work! Thank God Himself for Darvaset! Two more weeks then I revisit the rheumy and hopefully go back on my regular medications!
