Guest guest
I wholeheartedly agree, Bianca.Listen to your body.People have been saying that to us forever but most of us don't know how to listen. Lately I have started to properly try to listen and realise that it has been telling me things for years but I haven't been listening. I'm still a novice. Has anyone any advice on how to listen poperly? Janet To: mscured@...: biancabaldwin@... to your body, something NO neuro/doctor can do for you! Guest guest
Ienjoy meditating with my husband, some find it in Tai Chi or Yoga. Really anything that involves quiet time can help tohear your body. There are tapes, cdsfor this purpose. Sometimes just closing your eyes, turning ofeverything that coulddistract you, or is not helping you toswitch off every day issues. Some like EFT, certain music, it is very individual I believe. Anyway, the more you work on yourself, the more you are able totell what is good for you and what not. Bianca

Hi Janet, I don't pretend to be an expert here, but I think I've come a long way in listening and following my intuition. I think the biggest thing is to get our very active brains out of the way. lol I have learned (and I think EFT is really helpful with this) to stop the negative self- talk that results when we feel like we aren't doing as much as we " should " . I think it probably doesn't help much if we hear our bodies telling us to slow down or take it easy for a day or two, if we're just gonna beat ourselves up about it afterwards. I used to tell myself to just get something done if my energy was good and felt like I didn't have an excuse. Now I know that just because I'm feeling good doesn't mean I have to be superwoman, and there might be things going on inside my body that necessitate some extra rest even if I'm not feeling it yet. The other thing I've had to do is take my focus off the specifics and take in the big picture. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a tendency to dwell on any little symptom...a tingle in my hand or a burning in my foot, yk? " OK, what did I eat that I shouldn't have??? " lol Just in the last couple of days, I've noticed that even though I'm not having any major symptoms, something is off with me. I'm saying things that I remember saying a year ago before I started the BBD. How this life as a single mom is just too hard, my days are too busy and I can't get anything accomplished, etc. Doesn't seem like it has anything to do with the MS, but I recall how all those feelings just vanished about 5 weeks into the diet when my energy came back. So, I have to wonder if there's a connection and maybe I'm on a " slow slide " . Maybe this is my warning to head off a major flare-up or attack. It takes practice to pay attention to these signals and make the connections, but I think anyone can do it. The important thing is to not feel bad if you miss something, b/c we're all on a learning curve! HTH, Crystal
