Guest guest
Does anyone know of a med I can take for RA that doesn't require alot of regular lab work and such? I haven't been able to take MTX since Oct. 2007 due to lack of insurance and finances. I wasn't doing too bad until the past few months and the pain in my joints and pain from FMS is about to get me down. My insurance really stinks and I'm not eligible for MEdicare yet. Guest guest
I have found some moderate success with Tylenol products when I don't want to go as harsh as the pain killer medication. They have just about everything to include sleep, arthritis , and extra strength. I was told not to take Alieve or Advil when on MTX because they clash, and they are hard on the stomach , my girlfriend actually developed an ulcer for aleve . Guest guest
I also had an ulcer from Aleve. I took Bextra for a while early on, and it seemed to really work well for me. But it got a bad rap because of Vioxx, so they took it off the market. My rheumy switched me to Celebrex, but then my insurance company decided to put it on their top tier and charge a $50 co-pay. That's when I switched to arthritis- strength Tylenol, and it works well, along with the Enbrel. I take four a day, but I was told I could take six a day. Guest guest
So how is Enbrel helping you? Did it remove all your joint pains ? My rheumy wants me to go on Enbrel asap as I didnt get any help from MTX at all. Was in constant pain with it. Using Minocycline on alternate days helped to reduce my pain significantly. I can run for about 10 minutes now nonstop before pain stops me from running. I am also using two Mobics (NSAID) along with Mino. I used to be a runner before seronegative rheumatoid arthritis struck me. Guest guest
Arshad, Enbrel is helping me by taking away all of the inflammation and pain. My CRP (C-Reactive Protein), which my rheumy uses to monitor the disease, is normal and has been for some time now. Along with the Enbrel, I take arthritis-strength Tylenol, 4 tablets a day. I have some Tramadol to take when needed, but the only time I need to take it is when my hip is hurting. This pain comes from my lumbar spine, and is caused by osteoarthritis and spondylolisthesis, not from RA. I have been on Enbrel for over five years now, and have no adverse side effects except an occasional minor injection site reaction. I am lucky enough not to get frequent infections. I use the twice-weekly 25mg that I have to mix myself, because it seems to last better for me. It has no preservatives, so doesn't sting as I inject. I hope that Enbrel works as well for you as it does for me. Sue On May 21, 2009, at 11:40 AM, Arshad Amdani wrote: > > So how is Enbrel helping you? Guest guest
Thats really good news . My CRP has gone down to 0.5 now . It used to be around 13.5. My anticcp was always less than 20 and RF was negative since I am seronegative. The pain in my wrists and fingers and feet led the rheumy to come to this diagnosis after a long time. It took him almost six months to say 'Sero-negative' and I was like sure after three weeks when it started since I was reading on the web . I kept asking him is it sero-negative and he kept saying No for six months and then suddenly he said this is sero-negative. I read Dr Brown's antibiotic protocol and I wanted to try Mino. Rheumy didnt agree to it but gave me prescription anyways. Now I am feeling a lot better but he wants me to try Enbrel and quit Mino since Mino is not making me pain free. Its only been three months to this treatment. Yes I did quit MTX three months ago.
