Guest guest
I have RA in my ribs, which some call it, " costochondritis. " It hurts very badly at times. It will hurt for awhile, and then it will stop. So, yes please let your rheumy know. I'm sorry your hurting so badly. Glad you have some pain meds to help you, until you see the doctor. Please, let us know how the doctor visit goes. Just rest today, and feel better soon, Tawny > > My left side under my ribs has been hurting for the past 24 hours. Now maybe I pulled a muscle or my toddler kicked me while holding him. I'm hoping that's the case. But it was so bad last night I woke up several times. I'm afraid of liver infection or arthritis in the liver--because I'm that sort of paranoid freak. I've taken it easy today but instead of getting better or staying the same, it is actually is getting worse. I'm on Orencia, sulfadine and cymbalta. All together, they hurt my stomach. I'm eating pain killers this week and I'm due for my Orencia infusion tomorrow. I will mention this to my rheumy. In the meantime, has anyone else had this sort of pain? I'm lying around with an ice pack on my side. > >
Guest guest
Thanks, Tawny. It's bad enough to have it hurting my jaw and hips, but now my ribs? Ouch! It really hurts, but at least I'm not thinking I'm having pacratitis or kidney stones! [ ] Re: left side hurts I have RA in my ribs, which some call it, " costochondritis. Guest guest
, You talk to your rheumy tomorrow. If it isn't RA related, you need to see your primary doctor. If it gets too bad, go to the ER, of course. You take care of yourself, let someone pamper you today. Let me know, what the doc say, Tawny > > Thanks, Tawny. Guest guest
My friend had pain on her left side recently, and it turned out that she had pneumonia. I hope you don't have that, but you do need to get it checked out. Guest guest
Hi - I'm sorry you're in such pain. If your pain is on the left side, its not anything to do with the liver - that's on the right side. Try moist heat - I have better luck with that - ice makes me feel worse. Please let us know what your Rheumy says. I'm sure its nothing major, but I know how you feel. These " new " pains - especially when severe - scare the crap out of me too. Especially with the major meds we take and all of the " potential " side effects. It does make us worry more. Feel better soon and keep us posted.....Doreen My left side under my ribs has been hurting for the past 24 hours. Now maybe I pulled a muscle or my toddler kicked me while holding him. Guest guest
Several years ago I developed a pain in the rib cage on the right side. I was sure it was my gall bladder, liver or pancreas and insisted that tests were run. The doctor humored me, but in the end took me to the skeleton that hangs in his office and explained to me that with FMS the cartilage, etc. stops working with the bone and pulls away. He said this is what was happening to me. Over a period of 4 years it moved until it reached the breast bone and settled there, which I'm told is chostochondritis (sp?). I would have it checked out though. I believe the spleen is the only thing on the left side. Good Luck. > > My left side under my ribs has been hurting for the past 24 hours.
