Guest guest
Sue, Arava did not work for me and the loss of hair was tremendous. I am using Methotrexate with my Retuxzin infusions right now. Mousie in Calif.
Guest guest
She also is trying to deal with gastroparisis so the stomach issues are a concern too. Her rheumatologist says if there is problems we can go to something else. She took prednisone for years and that is what they finally got her off of that. This list has been really helpful as far as what to look for and alternatives to what she was taking. Guest guest
I am worried about the hair loss but MTX was already doing that. They have delayed her starting Orencia until her foot is totally healed. Sue [ ] Arava Sue, Arava did not work for me and the loss of hair was tremendous. Guest guest
I wonder if the prednisone for all those years caused the diabetes. It certainly has been known to so. If she has gastroparesis, her diabetes must be very advanced. Guest guest
I wondered if the prednisone had contributed to all of her problems right now. Actually her diabetes is easily controlled with medication and if she would try, they think she could control it with diet. All things considered (she is 84) things could be worse. It's just a lot of things to deal with this year. Sue Re: [ ] Arava I wonder if the prednisone for all those years caused the diabetes. It certainly has been known to so. Guest guest
If she already has gastroparesis, it means that her diabetes is pretty advanced. I would not say it would good for her to try to control it with diet. She needs to use medication along with diet. Many people with diabetes don't have the will power as well as the knowledge to keep the disease controlled better by the way they eat. I have diabetes myself, and I try to stay away from any foods that are white. That includes bread, pasta, rice, etc. But if your mom is 84, you probably are not going to talk her into a great deal of change. Good luck!
