Guest guest
I am in severe pain... my ankles, feet wrists and fingers are extremely swollen and I'm having extremely hard time walking... I called my Rhuem to see if he can give me anything better then tylenol 3 while he is holding off my Rituxin infusion which is due on June 10th... He's holding off the infusion to get more tests done but the results will not be in for another week. Anyway, his nurse gave me the run around about him probably not allowing me to get anything stronger and gave me an appointment to for tomorrow at 12:00... I'm in tears, I hurt so bad... How do I make him understand.. I work full time and I have no intentions of doing other wise... Shouldn't he be obligated to help subside my pain while trying to find out my issues? I am seriously loosing my mind, the pain is making me want to pass out as I'm constantly feeling sick to my stomach and dizzy when I try to walk. I know its not right, but if he will not give me something to help, then I'm gonna have to find something to help myself... My job is already in jeopardy due to the state budget and our shitty governor... I seriously can't afford to be out of work or showing any type of weakness... This is not just a job for me, this is my career and I'm not going to give up with out fighting like hell! Thanks for letting me vent Bonnie

Guest guest
Bonnie: You dont make your Rheumy understand. You ask him for a referral to a specialist in pain and palliative care, there is an entire clinical speciality built around pain, its called Pain management. They deal with chronic, acute, and terminal pain. It sounds like you could use something much stronger than T3. Guest guest
Bonnie: Please get an immediate referral to a Pain Management/Palliative Care specialist. This is an entire clinical specialties built around pain alleviation. I think certain specialists are now getting hip and realizing they may be specialists in Rheumy, Endo, Cardiology, etc. but they dont know how to effectively alleviate pain. I hate it when a doc doesnt listen. If they were all empaths they would. I hope you got some relief. Dont wait for someone to bring it to you, you have to search for it. This is a great group. I thank all of you for posting, i am learning so much about RA. OKD
Guest guest
Bonnie, It sounds like your in a big flare!! I'm so sorry, I know its very bad for you, and then trying to work. I would just tell the doctor how you feel. The doctor should be able to see how swollen you are. He might give you a burst of prednisone, that usually helps with the pain and swelling. Also, a steroid shot can help also. The last time I went to my rheumy, I was in a major flare, and it helped so much. Let us know how your doc appointment goes. Good luck, Tawny > > I am in severe pain... my ankles, feet wrists and fingers are extremely swollen and I'm having extremely hard time walking...
