Guest guest
OH no!!! LOL. Go figure. Well, I've taken Benadryl before I even had this problem for the itchies I got from Vicodin, which I refuse to take anymore. It's bad enough I get itchies from Percocet that I will only take when totally desperate, but they are more tolerable and look a little less goofy as I walk around scratching. LOL. I will definitely mention this! Thanks ! Heidi in Mass. In a message dated 12/31/2008 10:33:23 A.M. Guest guest
Hi Coetta, I just heard from the Dr. My RLS is a direct result from the nerve block and is expected to be temporary as I've never had it before. It should go away once the medication is out of my system within 7 to 10 days. I still have to take the Benadryl as there are 2 different problems going on. Tonight he wants me to take Benadryl with 2 Xanaflex (tizanidine). This should pretty much knock me out and totally relax me. I hope it works. I cannot imagine having RLS as an every day occurring problem on top of RA and anything else. Will keep you posted. What did you mean by having the radio frequency started? Thanks, Heidi in Mass. Guest guest
Hi Doreen, Do you have it every single night? or does it skip? I managed to have a good night the first night, and almost got thru last night but it woke me up around 5:30 this am, so I took the dogs out then fed them, then took my meds again. I just cannot imagine the fear of going to bed worrying about whether or not you'll get one of these " attacks " . These bring me back to my childhood fears, when I would have really painful sore throats and earaches. I would be so afraid to go to sleep at night because that's always when things hurt the most. Guess that is still with me now! Do the meds you take help you? I am still waiting to get that oil rub that I ordered on line to see if it helps, it's organic and has good reviews. Anything to avoid another pill. I put that aspercreme night time heat rub on and that helped too. I get scared with all this crazy stuff happening. Why when we try to have a procedure to help us tolerate daily living do odd things come out of it...lol..why? Heidi in Mass. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The radio frequency is a procedure on my back. They burn the nerves into, from L1 thru L5, This is what they did on me. I had the nerve block , then I had an epidural, and now I am on the radio frequency. The doc has done the right side of my spine, on January 12, they will do the left side. And in 6 to 8 weeks, I pray that I have no more back pain. They say that the nerves can grow back together. I am not sure what the next route is if it doesn't work. I am so glad for you that your RLS is temporary. It disrupts sleep so terribly. It is hard enough to sleep with all of the pain, let alone have RLS. I know every time I have had a procedure on my back, I have had a terrible time sleeping for days. Good Luck, hopefully it will be a better year for all of us. Guest guest
Hi Heidi - no, I don't have the RLS symptoms every night anymore. As long as I take my Skelaxin and Xanax, I only have them every once in a great while - and that usually happens if I've overdone it. Skelaxin is a muscle relaxer - my rheumy wanted to put me on Flexeril, but it causes me to have urinary retention problems. I've had anxiety issues my whole life and the Xanax was prescribed to help me unwind at the end of the day and if I needed it for breakthrough anxiety. The combination of the two has given me a more restful sleep with quiet legs. Now if I could keep the RA/FMS from interrupting my sleep at times, I would be doing really good.....Doreen > > Hi Doreen, > > Do you have it every single night? or does it skip? Guest guest
Group; I was wondering if anyone ever hear of restless feet syndrone. My feet won't stop moving at night when I go to bed. It's not my legs. I keep moving my feet on top of each other till I get a foot cramp. If I realize I am doing it I will try to hold them to stop and than they begin to quiver. That is really weird. I am seeing my mental health doctor about it the 22nd of this month. I also grind my teeth. This has just started in the last few months. I didnt really notice it till I tried to stop and I can't seem to stop either one at night when i go to bed gentle hugs Clora **********************************************************

I recently read a newspaper article about putting a bar of soap under the corner of your mattress and there are people who swear this helps with it though they don't know why. I've also heard of people taking their calcium supplement right before bed as this is a natural muscle relaxant. Hope this helps.
