Guest guest
Hi There. I was wondering if anyone else was using the Genius gluten free bread and if so how they find it? I compared the fat content of this bread to that of a normal wheat loaf and was horrified to find that the level of fat is much higher. there are 5grams of fat per slice in the Genius bread and only 0.8grams in the normal bread. The saturated fat is at least twice as high in the Genius Bread and I am concerned about the level of trans fatty acids which are not stated. I know we are advised that Wheat and gluten are likely sources of problems, but i wonder how this trades off against the fat levels which are higher in the non gluten bread and by a large amount? I'm particularly concerned by this since we now know via the CCSVI discovery that ms is most likely to be a primarily vascular disease and secondary an autoimmune response? Ive been struggling into work which has meant ive had no time or energy for keeping up with fellow msers and i wondered if anyone else had tried or had thought of trying normal bread as a part of a very low fat diet? Having used the genius bread, ive found it very helpful in making me feel full, especially in the miserable winter we've had here in England; and also very convenient for taking food to work. Im loathed to stop using it but considering the fat issue worries me greatly and I have noticed how very many so called suitable foodstuffs use fats like palm oil and have far higher levels of fat than other foods we consider off limits. I know the answer is to make your own bread, but keeping a job down and accommodating ms doesnt allow me to do both!! Any comments/thoughts would be very welcome! Steve Nb I should add that i've got a lot worse recently and walking is now proving very troublesome. I can say that i've been using the bread for a few months and i'm not sure there isn't a link to my worsening condition.

No, because the gluten is what is going to set off the immune system. You say that you are doing worse, so the last thing you should do is aggravate things more! > I know the answer is to make your own bread, but keeping a job down and accommodating ms doesnt allow me to do both!! That's not my answer! I would say try wrapping your sandwich in a lettuce leaf or rice tortilla (or corn, if you can have it). HTH! Guest guest
I bought some organic corn tortillas (that are in the freezer until I graduate to a higher level in GAPS). They are Buenatural brand. 4 tortillas, 1 serving, contains 2g fat, none of it saturated or trans-fat. I have not tried them but the salesman said they were good. I took his word because I bought them from an organic farm in Arizona and they are made in New Mexico. Mexican food is extremely popular in both states. > > That's not my answer! Guest guest
Flax seed bread works well, too, if you eat eggs. >
