Guest guest
Welcome back Ken!!! Its nice to see you posting, it has been a long time. Sorry to hear the surgery didn't help your hand. I hope someone can help you find the answer. I hope you can reach your doctor soon. All people are not the same, and maybe your just one to heal slow, especially since you have so many health problems. Take care, and hope your on the mend soon, and you will feel relief, and your hand will be normal. Guest guest
I work for a hospital that has a certified hand therapist in their occupational therapy department. Someone like that should be able to answer your questions. They should have a therapy department at the VA, don't they? Hope this helps, ________________________________ From: kenneth samuelsen <squarehead52@...> Sent: Wednesday, June 3, 2009 1:58:47 PM Subject: [ ] Off Subject..but asking for help? Please? Guest guest
Hi Ken, I don't post often any longer, but I sure do remember you and your beautiful poems. I'm sorry to hear the surgery didn't go very well, but I agree with , just go to the VA hospital and see what is going on. I imagine the swelling is normal since it has only been a week since the surgery, time does seem to make a difference. I also remember you collected different baseball hats and lived in Asheville, NC. Are you still there? I spoke to you and your wife, I believe Bonnie, before I decided to move to SC from VA. a little over 3 years ago. I wasn't aware anything happened, I just didn't see your posts any longer. Welcome back with many gentle hugs coming your way. conniekay
Guest guest
Hi Ken: Welcome back to our group. I felt really bad reading about your hand. I just had a knee replacement 5 weeks ago, and due to an injury the day before my surgery, my whole leg and knee blew up. I could not even bend the knee. I was in horrible pain, and it took them 8 days to find the right pain meds. for me. This has never happened before to either my other knee replacement, or hip replacement. The leg swelled from the toes to the groin. The surgeon gave me 60 mgs. of Lasix each day, and wrapped the entire foot to the groin with ace bandages. They were on 24 hrs. a day for at least 2 weeks. I never had this problem before. I was in agony, that's for sure. Who knows why these things happen? If I were you, I would drive to the VA, and sit and wait to see your dr. You need to be seen, and also given some pain meds. that will help your pain level. That is all I can suggest. It is no fun to suffer, when there are so many drugs out there to help us with pain. I hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
Hi Ken - I am behind on reading these posts and I pray you have gotten help for your hand. If you can't get into the VA, then go to the ER. This doesn't sound normal for being a week post-op. Please let us know what you find out. Hang with us - this is an awesome group - we're all friends here and we all care.....Doreen Greetings... I used to " Be " on this site regularly..but i stopped.
