Guest guest
Hi Tabitha, You will never know for sure which vaccine was the trigger. It really doesn't matter, as they all will do their own damage. I recommend you visit the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) website and report the incident yourself: http://vaers.hhs.gov/ My dd had a reaction after her HIB and MMR vaccines 15 years ago (way before I knew better!) The pediatrician admitted on her chart that it was probably the MMR (how they think they know that is beyond me since everyone reacts differently to these toxic injections). I know he didn't file a report (and I didn't know there was a place to report to back then.) I did file a report about it with VAERS a few years ago though. It's never too late. You can file online, or you can have them snail mail you the paper work. If I remember correctly, they recommend you get the lot numbers from the shots if possible so you can include that in your report (it's not required though). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Remember YOU are your son's advocate. When he had the reaction he recieved MMR, DTP, and chicken pox. When I recieved a copy of his notes from the Dr.'s it did say that it appears that he had a reaction to one of the vaccs. most likely being the chicken pox. To my knowledge no paper work was ever filed, I will be looking into this. Here is how it happened: Shots on a Friday Morning Friday night fever of 103 some swelling in the legs Sat still had fever and some red blotches around sit. Sun. fever up to almost 105 called ER at this time and did not think they needed to see him until Mon. Mond. admitted to hospital fever 105 very still not moving much and had lost 4 pounds since Friday. He was discharged on Sat. still with 103 fever but had gained back 10oz of the 7 pounds he lost. Several tests were done, blood, urine, and stool. Nothing showed on any of the tests. NOTHING. So how do I tell which shot caused the reaction. I remember the Dr saying that more than likely it was from the chicken pox, something about it having a higher reaction rate then the others. I have a well child check up on Friday and am planning on telling our Dr. we do not want any more vacs. I am very shy and will really have to build up my back bone here. I was so scared when he had the last ones and can only think it could be worse this time. I still remember seeing every bone in his body.
