Guest guest
Missy, I also have according to my rhuemy, RA, fibromyalgia like pain, and periphereal neuropathy. Life is sometimes impossible for all of us with RA, and I take everything hour by hour, (evenings and nights are the worst). But, I also try to count my many blessings and am thankful that I don't have something worse like terminal cancer or SMA. Take care, ________________________________ From: missieph <missieph@...> Sent: Wed, December 1, 2010 5:44:59 PM Subject: [ ] RA & Fibromyalgia?  Is it possible to have both RA & Fibromyalgia? Guest guest
This may be a stupid question but how do you know it's fibromyalgia and not just RA? Is the pain really different? Is there a test you can take that confirms fibromyalgia? PJ ,___
Guest guest
Sometimes it is hard to tell which the pain is from but the RA is from the joints and the fibro is more muscle..............but sometimes all you know is you hurt and not sure where it is coming from...........I do have both............ Guest guest
I do too. Just coming off a flare up of both at the same time. Talk about a pain! Guest guest
I have nothing to confirm it. I'm meeting w/ the Cleveland Clinic on Monday, and my Rheumy on Friday. I haven't been responding to ANY medicines. Over the past week or so, I've noticed weird muscle pain in my back and over the past few days now it's in my shoulder muscles. I have never been diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome, but I remember being pregnant w/ my first daughter 5 years ago and seeing a commmercial for it. I got excited, because that's what I felt. There was a name for it. I haven't had it in a while, but now I feel that feeling both in my legs and now in my shoulders all the way down my arms. It is FRUSTRATING, because I want to keep moving to stop the twitchyness, but I have RA in both shoulders, so it hurts to move. Relief can't come soon enough. I haven't been able to sleep between the twitching and the joint pain. I started taking some muscle relaxers I had laying around to see if it would help. It didn't unfortunately. Guest guest
I too have RA & Fibromyalgia. I also have OA of the spine and Sacroilliac joints (where the spine connects to the Pelvic bone) Each pain is different. With Fibro there is pressure points that the doc can lightly pres on and IT HURTS!!! If you go to WebMD and search on Fibromyalgia you will see the point I am talking about. in MN > > Is it possible to have both RA & Fibromyalgia? > Missie- PA >
