Guest guest
Hi Group: So, I get up at 5AM to cook thanksgiving dinner, I am all done by 1PM, figure I will get some rest before we eat, all day long I have this nagging pain in the top of my ribs, under my breast, but I ignore and keep moving, I take a pain pill, nothing, so my hubby says maybe its gas, so I walk to the drug store to get some GAS-X....why did I do that? I dont know how I got home, all of a sudden, I get this crushing bad chest pain, i take baby steps, but i make it home. I cant take the pain no more so they take me to the ER and BOOM....Pleurisy! OK, so they give me a massive dose of prednison (like 125 mgs in a shot) and morphine and finally the pain is enuf that I can breathe (I couldnt take a deep breath). hey rush me to CT Scan and lo and behold I have two small blood clots in my chest (who knew?), and I have Pleurisy (but no fluid, only inflammation in the lining of my lungs). So, I am in the hospital for 5 days and now I am on blood thinners for 6 months, and what a drag this is....I have to take blood thinner shots in the stomach for the next week and coumadin at nite until my INR levels are between 2-3. They are now only at 1.5....the shots hurt, my arms are full of bruises ans bumps from all the meds and worse my Sed Rate is 39 and my other level in inflammation marker is 50!! So the RA doc says I now either have to take more Enbrel and if that doesnt work switch to something else, like an infusion. I will file the last 7 days under " What the Heck was that " .... OKD (ugh!)
Guest guest
I'm so very sorry to hear this, OKD. Not a good Thanksgiving for you! Did anyone have any theories about the source of the clots? Guest guest
Hi OKD.  Gee, I was so sorry to read how sick you have been. I am glad you went to the ER and found out what was wrong with you. Pleurisy is very painfull as my father had it a lot. Thank God they found the bloodclots before anything happened to you. I am sure your body and RA are running wild. I know when I don't see you posting, that something is going on with you and not good. Then having to deal with perhaps another bio-logical drug to try. Yikes, you are in a over whelming situation.  I sure do hope you begin to feel better soon. Things are tough for you right now. I will keep you in my prayers and pray things turn around for you.  Hugs,  Barbara From: OKD <Cofade_2000@...> Subject: [ ] Clots and Pleurisy Date: Thursday, December 2, 2010, 3:54 PM  Hi Group: So, I get up at 5AM to cook thanksgiving dinner, I am all done by 1PM, figure I will get some rest before we eat, all day long I have this nagging pain in the top of my ribs, under my breast, but I ignore and keep moving, I take a pain pill, nothing, so my hubby says maybe its gas, so I walk to the drug store to get some GAS-X....why did I do that? Guest guest
I'm sorry about your troubles, OKD. I know it can't be any fun to be in the hospital that long. I hope your pleurisy is soon gone and you will no longer have to have shots. I'm sending positive thoughts that you heal swiftly.
