Guest guest
night time only won't help. either the band is okay, and should be worn 23 hours a day, or it doesn't fit and shouldn't be used at all. I would ask the ortho to recast/scan and make a new band at no cost to you. given that he's been tinkering with it like crazy this does not sound unreasonable. if he won't i would contact orthomerica's corporate office and ask them about this. please don't keep your child in an ill-fitting band that might make his head worse. trust your instincts and get it fixed. good luck with it. -christine sydney 17 mo starband grad > > Hi all, I am stressing myself out here. Guest guest
Hi , I would request a new band too. The STARband should usually last longer than 2 months since they're made with so much room to grow. If your ortho won't do it (for free) contact Orthomerica directly. I've heard of them making new bands for free in similar situations. My son's first STARband didn't fit very well I wish I'd trusted my instinct and requested a new one. His face got a lot worse in the few months of wearing the ill fitting band and I don't know how much was the band and how much was the untreated tort that the doctors told me not to worry about. It took two more DOCbands and a lot of PT to correct what should have been dealt with in the first place. Trust your instincts! Good luck! Guest guest
Orthomerica is very good about stepping up if you are having any problems with your band. If the ortho won't recast/scan for a new band definitely contact them. We had a poor fitting band and the ortho was able to get a new one made for us at no cost. What clinic are you being seen in? Guest guest
It looks like you are getting alot of good responses but I just wanted to second everything that has been said. If it's not fitting right then even wearing it at night can cause a mishappen head. If it's too smal becuase his head had grown so much maybe a 2nd band is needed but if it was damaged by the ortho and they are trying to fix the mistake then you need a new band free of charge.  Jen and Luli - 18 mo. Guest guest
I'd get in touch with your doctor or Rheumatologist right away. I've been on oral MTX for 9 months and started injections two weeks ago but I've never had side effects that severe with any of it. I'd give him (or her) a call before the next injection just to be sure. My Rheumatologist tells me I can take the medication a day early or a day late, and if I have the flu or a bad cold to skip it that week all together. The point being, I'd find out from a professional health care provider before taking any more medication because your reaction warrants concern. Stan Seattle, Sun! We are NOT physicians.
