Guest guest
Hi Bernie, Instead of trying to directly treat MS-related symptoms, I think your wisest course of action would be to employ a comprehensive approach that includes a diet low in saturated fat (like the Best Bet Diet), exercise, detoxification, a low stress lifestyle, food supplements, glyconutrients, Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), and a host of other things that some MSers have found very helpful. Guest guest
Just a thought cause worked well for me, horse chestnut vitamins and MSM vitamins, I got them at vitamin world, it took about 3 weeks to kick in but I wouldn't go without now. Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry® Tightness in lower legs, especially early morning when I get up I've been having tightness feeling in the lower legs, esp. calves during the night and early morning. Is this related to a metabolic issue? or abnormal? Its been more lately than before. It seems to get somewhat better as the day progresses, but happens again every morning. I also have some stiffness in the ankles and feet. Bernie
Guest guest
Hi Bernie, I get exactly the same. I also get cramp in my legs when I first get up. The BBD hasn't helped that at all, although in all other respects it is good. (The only thing on Dudley's list that I haven't tried is LDN.) In the summer I take spirulina which stops me getting leg cramps when swimming and it does seem to help the night-time tightness a bit. Magnesium, calcium and turmeric help a bit too. Getting up and putting my weight on my legs, and Tiger Balm also sometimes help. I have noticed it is worse when the weather is cold or damp which is probably why you have been getting it more lately. Janet To: mscured From: berniew1@... Guest guest
I think it's a metabolic issue. Since you are anabolic, parasympathetic dominant, get some help with the types of food that will stimulate your sympathetic autonomic nervous system. Find out what your oxidation rate is, mine's slow. I'm catabolic and that means that I have more energy during the day. You are more energetic at night. Parasympathetics should not take magnesium supplements, they make you too alkaline. It might also help you to eat before going to bed so that you get the nutrients that you need during the night. I ordered the Kelley metabolic test to find out more about the correct diet for me. I also have Wolcott's book. Wolcott was a student of Kelley's. Kelley put his own cancer into remission and the same diet did not help his wife. He did research and discovered that not all people have the same metabolic type and there are subclasses that further individualize nutritional needs. Much of his research was based on discoveries by Dr. Beard who developed this theory at the turn of the 20th century. Dr. Kelley also discovered that his legs ached for a long time after his cancer tumor was gone. He attributes this to minerals leaching from tissues that are necessary in other areas. I ordered the book from this site for a fraction of what it sells for new. There is a wealth of information on this site. Dr. , who is mentioned here, is who I contacted for assistance based on a nutritionist/friend's advice. http://www.drkelley.info/articles/archive.php?artid=320 > > I've been having tightness feeling in the lower legs, esp. calves during the night and early morning.
