Guest guest
Hi... I am 56 and was diagnosed in late July, 2008 after going through about six weeks of severe symptoms. I actually filed in late October because I had to wait on some paperwork. I recieved no indication from the Social Security Department that they had any protocals for approving a claim other than providing them with all of the documents they required. But we all know they must have some criteria. My girlfriend, who had a brain anurism ten years ago and was completely paralyzed at the time had to wait over 18 months for her SSI claim to be approved. She swears age has eveything to do with it, and they make it tough for younger adults. I'd be happy to answer any question you may have. FYI, no one has ever at any time considered me " trainable. " It's only by the grace of God I am able to wipe myself. Stan Seattle, Foggy and Cloudy
Guest guest
Hi... What generally " gives " is your mind, I remember a time when even all my imaginary friends turned on me! Stay positive and keep trying and eventually there will come a time when they cannot or will not deny you are sick. Occasionally I get dirty looks from people when I park the Mustang in a handicapped spot and walk into the store. What they don't know is that I am walking fairly well that day and they can't see the wrists and elbow supports I wear whenever I am out. As for the Mustang, I bought that car a year before I had any symptoms and would never have made that choice had I known. Now I'm stuck with it. But it's good for picking up chicks, " hey baby, I got some really good pain killers and a cool assortment of ice packs and heating pads! " Being the jerk that I am, I also make sure there is an addition handicap spot available so someone who is better off than me (and doesn't have a handicap plaque) can park there and really piss 'em off. I have lower back pain issues as well, fortunately my RA has not affected it at all but I do worry about it constantly. I am a veteran of lower back pain with a bad disk and some twisted vertebrae. I am sincerely grateful the RA hasn't messed with that part of my body yet. The best and most effective thing I found for it was simply an ice pack, no more than twenty minutes at a time. Sorry, I have no cure for a 15-year old. Stan, Seattle, Cloudy and dark.
