I was undiagnosed for a long time and, while the doctor thought I was having a major allergic reaction, I thought I had a chemical burn. The only chemical burns I knew anything about was diaper rashes. So, I headed into that department. I used Balmex first. It was amazing. But I did have an allergic reaction to it - I turned sort of orange, which was better than the purple I had become and the burning stopped, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. So, I tried zinc oxide. It was in the same section at that time. And that was wonderful. Later, I found a woman on the rosacea board on AOL who was under good control. She was using calamine lotion, which is very high in zinc oxide. Since then, others have used Desitin with good results. And cea Ltd. is getting good results. Both Desitin and cea Ltd have zinc oxide in them. Again, it's not the answer for everyone, yadda yadda. Antihistamines are posted here and there as a help with flushing. Not necessarily with rosacea flushing, mind you, but with flushing. If it works for other forms of facial flushing, it's worth a shot in my book. Luckily, they do help me. Again, zyrtec is the best of the bunch, in my book, for skin problems. I take Claritin because it's strong enough for me and I don't have any side effects with it.
