Guest guest
After months of going back and forth with the option of starting biologics, I decided to do it. So I called the doctors office and they did all the paper work and I got approved for Remicade. Yay!!! Problem.....the nurse called me today to let me know that I was approved but also to let me know the cost. In a very calm voice she said that since it's the beginning of the year and my deductable is not met that my first infusion would be $600. My brain stopped working after I heard 600 even though it was 600 and something. She then told me that the following one would ONLY be $400(again my brain stopped processing after 400). I just told her that there was no way that I was going to pay that kind of money. I'd have to be on drugs to pay that...oh wait a minute, I am on drugs, LOL. I'm on methotrexate 6 pills. I couldn't do more than that because I would get headaches. I tried sulfasalazin but that did nothing for me but add to my fatigue and those were huge pills. They got stuck several times in my throat and water wouldn't push it down, I had to eat bread to push that GInormous pill down. I still was told to go for my TB test and have it checked on Thurs at my appt and we'll see what the doctor says. I hope he has a plan because who can afford a second mortgage for drugs? Martha who is hoping my doctor has some other plans for me on Thurs.
Guest guest
The Healthwell Foundation approved $2800 for me when I was trying Humira and sent me a Copayment assistance Card. I wouldn't have to spend a cent until that fund dried up. Check with them and see what can be done. I know it worked for me. I'd also suggest you try the injectable MTX, it's a lot cheaper than pills. Good luck no matter what you decide.
